Breakfast was excellent. Location was great. Was able to view the northern lights from the balcony. The food at the restaurant was also pretty good. Checking in wasn’t that good, we paid for a superior room but did not get one and had to go back to the reception to get it changed (we did remind the person at the reception when checking in though).

We were generally satisfied with the hotel. It’s a bit off the beaten path and not particularly close to anything but the room was clean and efficiently setup, and the staff is friendly. Their breakfast was also good.

Quiet, beautiful and comfy.
The staff was very accommodating with a late check-in which was much appreciated. Great bathroom setup. The window in the room is tiny (like in most hotels in Iceland) so it was really hot as there was no wind whatsoever.

A nice property with a good view. Rooms are basic, but very clean. Supper and breakfast buffets were above average.

Beautiful Wooded Area
We arrived just before 9pm and thankfully the restaurant Kol Bar&Bistro and dinner buffet downstairs were still open until 10pm. The male waiter made it clear he wanted us to check out the dinner buffet downstairs but I’m glad we didn’t because the seafood pasta at Kol Bar&Bistro was delicious !! The room was clean and the lobby area was really welcoming. The receptionists both during the evening and morning were very sweet and helpful! Beautiful area!! I was sad we had to get going because they have a lot to do around that area, definitely a place to spend a couple nights going hiking, ATV tours etc,

Nice overall but avoid the dinner buffet
The hotel was very clean and spacious and the had a nice breakfast and we all quite enjoyed it. However, the dinner buffet was quite poor quality and it seemed as if everything had been left out for a very long time and that part of it is NOT worth it. Expensive horrible dinner aside the hotel itself was very nice.

The location was lovely, situated in the trees with a spectacular view of the lake. The room was quite comfortable, and the dinner as well as the (included_ breakfast--were amazing!

This hotel was one of the best and cleanest during our 15 day holiday in Iceland and the only hotel where tables in the breakfast room were disinfected after each customer (kind of important during COVID). Also, we would like to thank your staff member - nice Beatriz, who works at the front desk for being super helpful and making our stay very pleasant!

Room was clean and had a nice balcony/patio. It felt as if the floors in the bathroom were heated (nice touch). The dinner at Kol was very nice and the breakfast spread in the morning was excellent! Lovely stay all-around! Would definitely stay here again, for sure!

Nice place but not outstanding. Rooms are dated but very clean and bathrooms are great but like most places in Iceland, the sinks are tiny - not sure why. No convenient way to charge electronic devices. No blackout curtains for those summer nights with no darkness. Bar, restaurant were good with friendly staff. Important point: Hotels.com shows this hotel as being in Egilsstadir when it is not. The clue is in the name of the hotel which is 25 minutes outside of Egilsstadir.

From 8 hotels we stayed in our trip to Island (same price range), this was no doubt the best one. Very new hotel with modern and clean rooms. Very helpful staff; the front desk lady (from Portugal) was so helpful with several requests we had (late night and also in the morning). The breakfast was an actual restaurant experience, not just a b&b experience. Extensive variety, high quality food, with wonderful views of the restaurant. We definitely recommend everyone to stay here if they visit East Island.

The nicest Hotel in the Austurland
This is a hidden gem in the East of Iceland. I had no idea what to expect when I booked here. The Eastern part of iceland is beautiful and the hotel is located in the beautiful forrest that is the hallmark of this region. The hotel is actually more of a resort than just a place to sleep! The room was beautiful and the view even better. The dinner buffet was excellent and the shower amazing. We also took advantage of an ATV tour being operated off their property. East Highlanders was the name - AMAZING experience on their 2 hour tour.

Easy check in and out. Plenty of parking. Rooms were clean and spacious. Had a desk and chair in the room and also a water boiler and cups with coffee and tea sachets. Convenient side tables and reading lamps. Room had blackout curtains. Breakfast buffet was extensive, fresh and vegetarian friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is located by the beautiful lake forest, our room has the amazing lake view. It’s clean, well maintained. The two restaurants are good too. The staff members are friendly, courteous and welcoming. We are very happy about our stay at the property. Thanks very much!

Location was nice, if only weather would have cooperated. Check in & check out disappointing. Had to ask about amenities & locations within property at check-in. If i had not, staff would not have offered. She seemed to be pre-occupied with some other priority than checking in. No one was present at check out. Waited 7 minutes, dialed the bell as indicated with no answer, located another staff member cleaning rooms who attempted to help by calling, but then gave up & said they usually are not gone long & walked away. I waited another 10 minutes, no one came, so i left.
