Great downtown location, however room with a chill
Great location in Downtown Duluth, easy walking distance to shops, coffee shops and restaurants. The room was clean and the remote check-in service was outstanding with clear communication. The temperature in the room was the biggest downfall. When we arrived, the temperature was 61 degrees. Although we set the thermostat at near 80 degrees, the temperature in the room never got over 67 degrees so the room was a constant discomfort. There is a small electric fireplace heater that was helpful, but the room remained cool throughout the night. The bed has a nice thick comforter so sleeping was not an issue due to the colder temps in the room.

I read the past reviews very carefully from the lowest ones to the highest ones. To start, parking for the weekend ended up being free at the HART parking lot likely because of a failed gate machine. That was a plus! To get to the elevator, you have to walk past the sushi restaurant. You may or may not find that appealing. I felt that it was ok. It's not any different than some other places. I loved the decor and the vibe the hallways and the room. I didn't get a chance to use some of the amenities but it definitely deserves at least a 4/5.

It was nice and a great place to stay. I would say it is fairly loud during the day due to the bustle of downtown, if you plan to stay and need leisure during the day find a way to drown out the noise.

Verry cool...
Very cool. Entrance is a little goofy with the restaurant and it would have been nice to have a front desk to get food and entertainment suggestions from. However they were very up front about what to expect and we weren't caught off guard. Would definitely use them again.

Unique historical hotel with great decor. Unstaffed but checkin and other instructions are very clear. Very comfortably furnished and it was good value for money, at least in off season, compared to other Duluth hotels. I'd happily stay again

Checking in and mechanism is door lock not working called for help they came right away but unfortunately she couldnt figure it out called the maintenance man to come and work on it annd in the mean time dhe upgraded our room wicth was alot bigger and only problem was heat was only at 58 degrees and thermostat was crazy could adjust it at all. Thank goodness for the fireplace it brought the temperature up to 60. Nice location with shopping and bars and restaurants. Many thanks to lousie she tried helping.

Hidden gem!
Great boutique inn in the heart of Duluth! Loved our stay. We will be back. Easy virtual check in process, clean, comfortable, blackout curtains, convenient sushi restaurant and speakeasy in the building.

Having listed this as an INTERIOR room with a shared bathroom in the room name, and in the room description. As well as the Check-In information, I am hoping you can point us in the direction of a place where it would have been more noticeable to you? We want all of our guests to enjoy their stay which is why we provide a 5 page Check-in information letter to each guest explaining everything about our hotel. This letter starts with where to park, how to enter the hotel and your room, and includes connecting to wifi and walks through everything you should need to know to make your stay as smooth as possible.. I do hope you will join us again soon, but in a room that fits your wants. We have a variety of rooms and I feel any of the rooms 5-13 would be a better fit to make your stay more enjoyable.Again, thank you for the review, we take our customer feedback seriously. This property was beautiful and unique, however the room I stayed in was very noisy from people on the street all hours of the night. The room also smelt very strongly like fish, I assume from the sushi restaurant below.

Great experience!
Very cool historic building in great location right downtown. Would highly recommend. Don’t let the “staffless hotel” thing scare you away 1 it was super easy to navigate the entrance and individual room security and staff were very responsive via text and phone. Great experience overall and will definitely book again when visiting Duluth!

The hotel was so unique! Cool decor, easy to walk to the lake and restaurants. We loved walking on the trails around the lake. The hotel was super clean and comfortable. We stayed in room 12 and loved it. There is t a front desk but the staff text frequently to check in and see if your enjoying your stay. It was great! I would come back again!

The bathroom is shared by many rooms (2 people) and toilet is needed in my emergency and I lost it in my pants. The bedroom temperature could not be adjusted. Cold air blew in every night and I had to use two covers. The bath shower head direction could not be adjusted and jammed to not reposition downward for better rinsing of soap, etc. Only one chair seat to sit. You pay in advance to get in. Price is differently (higher) than when originally booked several months ago in anticipation of trip and as presently advertised on website as on the day of use for the Swede room. Could not reveiw preview charges. Received ebill bill after payment submitted. They have your credi/debit card in advance.

Hello James, I'm sorry to hear you didn't have the best stay. being that you booked threw a third-party sight they should have told you about the situation with the shared private bathroom. As far as us having your card information that is incorrect. We don't see any CC info and we charge your stay the day of. You Pay your booking sight first. I hope I have cleared up some things to watch out for in the future when booking a room. I will take everything you said into consideration and make some changes. Thank you for staying with us.

This property is a very unique, it is as if an Airbnb and Hostel had a child. You have your own private sleeping quarters with very and I mean very comfortable beds (I wish I had checked to see what kind of mattress it was because I need one at home), but you share the bathroom/shower with 3 other rooms. Now don't let the sharing of the bathroom turn you off this space.It was a very clean and very nice up-to-date bathroom! We all used to share shower space in high school gym class or at Y. Their cleaning staff seemed to be on top of things. My room had a tv, fridge, microwave, Nespresso maker, sink, and mirror. It is a very cool use of a very old building, Yogo/gym right down the hall, a bar in the basement, and a Japanese/Sushi restaurant on ground level. Not to mention, there is a casino across the street and you can take the walking bridge to park above the tunnel just behind the building, after a short 8-minute walk you are in Canal Park to enjoy all the shopping and restaurants. I will definitely book this room again for my next trip to Duluth.

We were pleased with the Merritt room, comfy Queen beds, and location. There was one issue: We were unable to re-enter the room after dinner, as the lock kept shutting down before we could hit the "check" button. After about 5 minutes we got in--was a battery low?

This is an experience as well as a place to stay. We enjoyed our stay and the historic building. My only issue was with parking. Easy to move the car after business hours to park on the street. Otherwise, a long distance to haul luggage.

Very lovely property. We stayed to celebrate a birthday and couldn’t have found a better gem! The only con was the inability to control your individual room temperature and it ended up being uncomfortably warm. All amenities and the rooms were amazing! Thank you for a memorable stay.
