Le Clos is a renovated farm with massive charm. It is not a full spec catered hotel, and is all the better for it. Michel is very friendly and set me up with restaurant recommendations in the nearby town (4 miles away) Good breakfast in the morning. Breads, homemade jams, sausage, cheese and the offer of eggs. Fantastic quirky rooms. Do come if you enjoy something unique, don't come if you need satellite TV or don't want to attempt some French.

Heerlijk verblijf gehad. Vriendelijke gastheer die ook een heerlijk ontbijt heeft verzorgd. Kinderen vonden de bedstee in kamer julia geweldig.

This place would have been what it promised, a place of dreams: remote, rural, beautiful, wonderfully appointed, easygoing, friendly. BUT. After going quite a long distance out of our way to find this special place, being greeted by the friendly owner, moving into our room, and hitting the pool, the owner returned to tell us that he had double-booked the room, and we would have to leave. So we had to get out, get dressed, and leave to make another drive to find another hotel (sight unseen)... with the other family standing right there. Awkward as hell for everyone. And we'd booked three weeks prior, why did WE have to leave? We suspected it was because they would stay more nights and pay more. It must be said: the owner made great efforts to try to find us another hotel; invite us back to the pool and breakfast; made many apologies. But at the end of the day, he'd kicked us out in the middle of nowhere, and we had to make a 45 minute drive just to find even a basic, cheap hotel. The low point, it must be said, was when the owner tried to prevent us from leaving the grounds so that he could prove he was not the bad guy in this situation (as he plainly was). He refused to open the gate until we accepted his terms, and even closed it again on us as we tried to drive out (it nearly hit our car), yelling at us about how we was sympathetic to "our problem." Honestly, it was just shy of feeling like we were hostages. So the place looks nice. But these are not good dreams.
