"Excellent place to stay to explore the eastern portion of the Shawnee National Forest. We used it as a launching point to see the Garden of the Gods, Cave in Rock, and Dixon Springs State Park. Wish we had another day to do more exploring. The cabin is secluded, so stock up on groceries and charcoal for the grill before you arrive. Kitchen was well stocked with pans and utensils that made cooking meals easy. It was comfortable, clean and peaceful. I will definitely stay there again the...

10/10 Excellent

"Great!"

Hot Tub, Screened Porch, Dead-End Road

10/10 Excellent

"This is a beautiful property! It was just so serene and relaxing. It's perfect for a couple just to getaway and enjoy nature. The weather cooperated so we were able to do some hiking at Giant City and spend an afternoon on The Wine Trail. Allison was a perfect host. She checked in with us to be sure all was well, which it was. We would definitely like to stay here again."

Hot Tub, Stargazing, Ancient Site Nearby

10/10 Excellent

"The Apple Shack was great! Our favorites were the hot tub and the sun room. Some small details to note: Coffee is provided, there is a cooktop in a drawer to use, a fan close to the bed, and extra blankets! These are normally things I pack, so this may save the next person from packing! Everything was clean and orderly, would definitely stay here again. Property is about 40 min from Garden of the Gods."

Cabin in the middle of the ShawneeNational Forest. WiFi, ac, full kitchen.

8/10 Good

"The host responded within a reasonable amount of time, cell service was very spotty. There were no coffee filters when we made coffee and Jack was there within an hour with coffee filters. We loved the front porch! Not sure but they may have been updating the cabin as there weren't any pictures on the walls and there is a door to the back, but no deck, a drop of about 3 feet. I wouldn't recommend small children in this cabin. Seems it would serve better to be listed as a hunting cabin as it needs a little TLC."

"The property was fantastic, there was 6 of us and we all said how very nice and decorated very nice.We said that we could live here no problem.Remember it has a pool and if you Intend to Use it come during the summer. We just stayed there October 24, 2026 and it was just a little cool for the pool. Just better planning on our part next year but it was a great place."
