The employees were friendly and efficient. They lobby was clean but it was extremely hot in the lobby and hallways. Our room was fine except the windows were in dire need of cleaning, there was what appeared to be a large dog paw print on the head board and the fan in the bathroom did not work and the metal was rusting in the bathroom .

Hi Teresa. Thank you for your feedback. We had to close the pool in order to update the equipment in our mechanical room. I apologize for the inconvenience of having to use an alternate facility.

The said the pool wasn’t working because of a coil. Then they cemented the hot tub up. The sink had some cracks on it. The carpet was a little torn by the door going into the room. They said they will give you a key to a different place to go use the pool there. We use to like going to this place because it was nice. Now we are going to find a different place to stay.

I do apologize for the pool being down. We had to overhaul our equipment. Unfortunately our pump arrived damaged and it is unsafe to operate without a working filtration system. Hopefully you give us a chance again in the future.

Hi Darryl, I apologize for any confusion. When you check into a hotel, a temporary hold is put on your card to cover any incidentals incurred during your stay. This also holds true for reservations booked outside of the hotel's platform. So while it may seem like you were "double charged", you were not.

Took a very long time to be checked in. Had to go back to the desk multiple times to finish check in. Rented a suite. No blankets or pillows for the pull out couch. Asked the desk for 2 blankets and was told she only had 1. No chlorine smell coming from the pool making me question if there was even any in it. Tried the sauna, but had to wait about 30 min before it even started to warm up in it. Sat in it for 5 min, while it was still fairly cold, and ended up with a nasty coughing fit & massive piercing headache so I went back to the room. Couple mins later I ended up with a bloody nose. Dirty feminine pad was in the garbage. Whole room was outdated. Breakfast sucked. Prepackaged waffles that you put in the toaster… tasted awful. The toaster waffles you can buy in the local grocery stores taste way better. Only food worth eating was the bagels. The bananas weren’t even edible. They were green. Like no yellowing to them at all. I highly do not recommend staying there.

Hi Kristy, I am sorry to hear that you had such a poor stay. It is hard for me to comment on the condition of your room, as I am unable to find your stay in our system to pinpoint a specific room. Here at AmericInn by Wyndham, we have high cleanliness standards. I can assure you that our pool is on a calibrated system to ensure the proper mixture of chemicals at all times. A pool that smells highly of chlorine is not calibrated to the correct levels. I am also saddened to hear that you were not able to find something to eat from our complimentary breakfast. We offer at least 3 hot items daily, as well as a variety of both refrigerated and shelf stable items.

Overall we had a good stay; the price was good, staff was friendly, and our room and the hotel itself was clean. The hot tub being closed was a bummer but my kiddos and I enjoyed swimming in the pool.

We were not able to get a room key as the machine was not working the front desk person stated. I find this very odd and I felt very uncomfortable about this situation.

The locks did not work for our stay, we were not given keys and had to keep our room door ajar to be able to gain re-entry. We had a pull out couch, not extra bedding in the room and they seemed rather anointed when we asked for some. Hot tub did not work. Phone in room did not work so you couldn’t call the desk. I have immobility issues so this was t easy, especially being one of the farthest rooms from the desk. The phone was bitterly not plugged it to anything. No cords to or from. Nothing but a decoration piece. I had asked to changed my reservation because I was getting in later then expected and they refused. I think this is pretty ironic seeing there were so many issues, and concerns for safety at the time. We usually come up and stay there a few times a year but this was just awful and how they would work with us even though they couldn’t lock their own doors. We should have been notified of this prior to our arrival and been asked if we wanted to cancel or change dates. Not super convenient to have to take everything with you each time y oh leave the room in case some random person would walk in.

Our New Favorite Place
My fiancé and I stayed overnight for a family Christmas event, and when we finally did arrive at the hotel, the staff were extremely nice and professional at check in and other encounters. The room was very clean, and the bed incredibly comfortable. The room may have been a little outdated, but it felt warm and inviting… And we now have a favorite hotel in the AmericInn in Wadena. My fiancé loves the family friendly atmosphere also, lots of children with their parents at the pool!

The locks on the doors didn’t work so you couldn’t leave anything of value if you went out of your room. Had to move rooms because we had no TV remote. Staff was fine. TV was small. Don’t know if we will stay there next time. $140.00 is a lot to spend if not able to leave your room.

Check in was frustrating. The woman working the front desk seemed confused that the two rooms I booked had already been paid for. The key card system was not working so we couldn’t get back into our room without assistance. Remote for tv didn’t work. At least our stay was simply to sleep.

The sofa in the room was a sleep sofa. Cushions in terrible condition and it couldn't even be used. Pool was not available either because of maintenance issues.

As one of the only hotel options in Wadena it's not a bad place to stay for a couple of nights. Knocking it down a couple of stars because the key writer was broken during my stay so I had to go to the front desk to be let in my room every time I came back which was a bit weird. Also, based on previous reviews and my experience it seems like the hot tub is perpetually broken which is kind of a bummer. That said, staff were very accommodating and I would likely stay here again the next time I'm in town.

The ADA room that I had did NOT have a usable shower for my foot. There is no access to adjusting the water temperature once inside the shower. Also, no way of turning on or off the water itself once seated in the shower.

Our room had no heat. The front desk gals promptly moved us to another room but the toilet didn't flush. We used the restroom at the pool. They couldn't give us a discount because I paid through Expedia. I will book directly through hotels from now on

We stay there a fair amount, a few times a year. We are exhausted of the hot tub being out of order all of the time. The breakfast has really declined in the recent years. Also, with having to slam doors to get them to shut, it jiggled our door lock over and locked us out. Thankfully the girl working was able to get us in and she was so sweet but time to start upgrading AmericInn.

I found this property mediocre. The rooms need to be updated. The bathroom was missing the bar in the shower so it exposed holes on the bath. The tissues needed to be refilled. The tissues I saw had a blue stripe down the middle so they were not usable. The bathtub had a dark ring in the tub.

. We were in town for a horse barrel race. I was very happy with how clean everything was from our room to the lobby. The front desk people were amazing and very helpful. I will stay here again in the future. They are also a pet friendly place.

The room did not match the pictures on line. Only one of the 2 TV’s worked. The heater/air conditioner in the room did not work. When turned on it smelled like something burning so we turned it off right away. We asked for a room change, but nothing available. Requested a reduction in rate as it was definitely not what we paid for, but denied. Will not stay ever again.
