    Rhode Island Hotel Guide

Rhode Island is the smallest state in land area, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in fun, adventure, and enjoyment for people taking advantage of cheap hotel deals in Rhode Island. The state was the first American colony to declare independence from the British in 1776. With the nickname "The Ocean State," Rhode Island offers some of the top beachside attractions on the northeast Atlantic coast.

Narragansett Bay is one of the state's best draws for tourists and is where many travellers find a cheap Rhode Island hotel deal. Within the Narragansett Bay, there are more than 30 islands for tourists to explore. The state also has many natural forests, which offer an opportunity for guests at hotels in Rhode Island to explore during their vacation.

Rhode Island is deeply involved in the history of the United States, especially the American Revolution, Industrial Revolution, and Civil War. Tourists staying at Rhode Island hotels can explore this history at landmarks such as the Eleazer Arnold House, built in 1691 in Providence or the First Baptist Meetinghouse, built in 1775.

Many Rhode Island hotel packages offer sightseeing tours through the historical areas of cities such as Providence, which is Rhode Island's capital, most populous city, and one of the oldest cities in the U.S. Coffee lovers can rejoice in Providence, as it has the highest concentration of coffeehouses in the country.

Visitors enjoying the affordable Rhode Island hotel deals featured on Expedia can take part in local festivals throughout the state, such as the WaterFire, an environmental art installation in Providence; the Newport Blues & BBQ Festival; or Newport Folk Festival in Newport. Be sure to book reservations in advance of these events, as the rooms with the lowest rates fill up quickly.

Other special events and places that travellers to Rhode Island have fun seeing include the Seaside Village Fair in Narragansett, the One Act Play Festival in Cranston, and the Great Chowder Cook Off, which showcases one of New England's traditional and favourite dishes. Travellers looking for discount prices for accommodations during these annual events should look to Expedia a few months in advance to get the best deals.

Rhode Island's mix of American history along with its modern amenities makes it an ideal travel destination for everyone.

"Nice hotel with a historical feel... "
Good location for visiting Providence College. Greeted by the valet man at the curb who was extremely nice. Our room wasn't ready because we arrived extremely early, but the person at the desk gave us a great restaurant recommendation that we walked to for lunch. The room was very pretty with high ceilings, large windows with heavy drapes, and a nice view of an old cathedral and the city. It is not your typical chain hotel feel, but rather a bit like we were back in time. Bed and pillows are extremely comfortable.

    "Beautiful hotel, close to everything."
The lobby is beautiful, staff was lovely when checking in... There was some sort of Rocky Horror Picture Show revival going on somewhere in town, so I had the pleasure of sharing an elevator at 6:00am with a rather drunk woman in her underwear, headed to her room... You cannot control others, haha. Food was excellent (breakfast) perhaps a little pricy for some. The lounge area is so relaxing and the bartender was great.

"Excellent hotel, right in the middle of the city"
Great hotel experience! Because the Spa is inside the hotel, great for weddings and girls weekends. This is a very historic hotel and I feel like that is undermined.

"Rough start, finished moderately strong "
Upon arriving (people everywhere, very crowded, cars having trouble finding parking, long line at check in), I was told at 330 that my room for 2 pm check in was not ready. With three kids, I had no where to go (nor our stuff nor anywhere to change to use the pool) that, Erica, the check in person eventually agreed to give us another room to use (double beds). She initially said they didn't have any rooms but that if there was one, she wouldn't be able to guarantee my original room (queen beds), and that she had no idea when my room would be ready. she did finally find one but it took half an hour to figure this out. It seemed her answer to everything was no, despite my calling in advance for 2 pm check in and my reservation for a room with queen beds. We used the pool and the room with double beds to get ready for an early dinner reservation and our room was finally ready at 530. Far cry from the 2 pm reservation. I was told our luggage would be moved by the time we got back from dinner. It wasn't. We arrived back at the hotel at 8 pm and our luggage, nor roll away I had reserved and asked for were nowhere to be seen. They both arrived 20 min later. The bell person was apologetic and helpful. From there, we had great experiences With the valets and bell people. We had breakfast in the hotel and the waitress was super. The grounds are pretty despite the hotel having a slightly outdated feel. The lighthouse is a great spot to see the sunset.

"Nice hotel within walking distance of a great area"
Booked last minute for a quick seaside getaway. No complaints at all with the hotel and Lexi who checked us in couldn't have been nicer. We parked our car, got settled and walked out to a beautiful harbor. Walked around in the shops, took a one hour Harbor Cruise, then had a cocktail and a great meal.
