"We arrived at Burning Shore for our prebooked - prepaid accomodation over Xmas holidays - only to find it closed and without any notice on the door. "A very comfortable well appointed lodge with excellent service focused staff. All rooms perched on the river bank with large viewing deck areas, the room also large, immaculately clean, a/c, inside or exterior shower, full bath with view. The food was also very good. Included 5 course served fixed menu dinner each evening, wine very reasona-ble from £12 a bottle. Lovely small pool area for a welcome cooling break. WiFi at the lodge main areas only not in room. "

"We stayed here for two nights and we absolutely loved it. Most memorable are the hosts, friendly animals including the meerkat and amazing service. Lodge is in a beautiful setting with lots of hikes, nature and wildlife. Food is simple and homely, we loved eating together with the other guests and the host. "A very traditional old-Africa style hotel with thatched roof. Perfect location for walking along the sea front, watching wildlife, or going into town. The service was excellent. "Far too busy and noisy. I was offered an upgrade, as expected that was because something was wrong with the upgraded room I was offered - it was above the restaurant, and I could hear the extraction fans and air con whirring noisily. The room itself was OK. Pretty much a clone of the international hotel style. But nothing special. Parking (for my motorcycle) was in a publicly accessible multistorey next door. The security guard was great, and looked after my bike all night. Windhoek city is a bit disappointing too. Museum closed. Hard to get around. I got propositioned by a young lady in the cafe! That's never happened to me before. Not sure what to think. I said I had to phone my wife, so was too busy. Instead I went round to the supermarket and bought a cheap dinner."
