With new rules, restrictions and safety measures to follow, travel looks a lot different in this day and age. Here are a few things to know before you get on that plane to Croatia:
- Investigate if any travel restrictions apply to your origin and destination before booking your flight. Also check if there are any special conditions you’ll need to follow on arrival, such as undergoing health assessments.
- When you pass through airport screening, do not remove your face mask. You will be required to lower it briefly for identification purposes. Passengers who refuse to wear a mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the building.
- Do not hand your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA officer. Instead, position the pass on the scanner and then hold it up so the agent can inspect it.
- You are now permitted to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on luggage. This will need to be taken out for X-ray scanning.
- To reduce handling during screening, put items such as your belt, phone and wallet into your carry-on instead of the bins.
- Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on makes it less likely that a TSA agent will need to touch and open your bag for inspection.
