A well maintained dirt road leads you through the woods out to the private Cottage Point peninsula on the Damariscotta River. Perched feet above a teaming tidal coastal estuary, this West facing jewel of a property offers spectacular views of wildlife and river activity from dawn to stunning sunset. Sip your morning coffee or evening cocktail from the deck while watching the Cormorants, Ospreys, jumping fish and soaring Bald Eagles. You may even see a passing harbor seal or meet our family of resident mink! When the tide is right, launch a kayak or hybrid paddle board/kayak (both included) from your private dock to explore the river up close or paddle to town for lunch and shopping. Just minutes from Damariscotta’s food, shopping and entertainment scene this cottage feels secluded while maintaining quick convenient access to everything that will make your stay easy, fun and relaxing. Spend your days at the cottage or use it as a launching point to experience the beauty of the Mid Coast of Maine. Explore the art galleries which are minutes from the cottage or drive 15 min to the Pemaquid Peninsula where you’ll find the famous Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, Pemaquid Beach and New Harbor where you can cruise to Monhegan Island or visit the Puffins. A 20 minute drive takes you to Boothbay Harbor and the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. 40 minutes to the coastal towns of Camden and Rockport and approximately 1 hour to Portland.

Recently featured in Maine Homes by Down East Magazine, this tastefully decorated small cottage offers a full kitchen, modern conveniences and a cozy wood burning Morso stove to keep you toasty on cool evenings. There is no formal interior dining table. Eat your meals on the deck, the side yard picnic table or at the large kitchen island and make s’mores for dessert by the portable Snow Peak Takibi fire and grill in the side yard. Inside, the upper level kitchen and living space includes new appliances, a large flat screen smart tv and plenty of books and games. Although there is visual privacy within the home, the cottage is small so there is limited auditory privacy. Sliding barn doors on a dividing half wall separate the main living area from a bedroom which contains a queen sized bed and a set of twin bunk beds. A gleaming white bathroom with walk-in shower are located on this level. A small steel spiral stair leads to the lower level primary bedroom suite which includes a kitchenette, laundry and second bathroom with a walk-in shower. Step out the primary bedroom suite to a platform that leads down a set of stairs to the river and your private float. This is Maine at its best!

Things to note:

Guests with mobility challenges should be aware that a sloping natural path leads from the parking area to the cottage. The inside spiral stair is quite narrow and may be challenging for some guests. The lower level can also be accessed directly from the outside.

There is very limited closet space particularly on the main level - plenty of hooks though!

The float goes to ground at low tide.
