Hut 36 is one of five beautifully modernised and renovated Nissen huts that are part of the former Cultybraggan Prisoner of War Camp, just a mile outside the picturesque village of Comrie.This hut is dog friendly. Cultybraggan have requested that dogs need to be on a lead at all times while on site and not allowed on sofas or beds.Nissen huts were commonly used in PoW camps across Britain during World War Ii. It’s now the last remaining Prisoner of War Camp in Scotland and has been named by Historic Scotland as a Unique Heritage Asset of International Value.Thanks to the vision of the Comrie Development Trust, which now owns the camp, five Nissen huts have been transformed into spacious, sustainable and modern self-catering accommodation. They’re ideal whether you’re a keen history buff or simply want a truly unique stay in the Perthshire countryside.While the huts retain their iconic external design, they’ve all been given a major facelift with a bright red roof, crisp white exterior front wall, and black door and window trim, providing an Insta-worthy contrast to the vivid greens of the surrounding Aberuchill Hills. Our children really enjoyed staying on an old prisoner of war camp and found it really exciting. The hut was clean and tidy and had everything we required to make our stay comfortable.
