Hometown Inn Athens

8/10 Good

"We could not use the heat for some reason. When you flushed the toilet it was very loud. Otherwise, clean and for the price it was ok."

The Lafayette A grand Riverboat Era Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"We had a fantastic stay. Marietta is a great town, and the Lafayette is very much a historic hotel. The common areas are rich with historical context and artifacts, and the two restaurants serve different purposes. The nearby area has an abundance of things to enjoy, day and night. As a historic building, this beauty and texture also come with some compromises. While the front façade, lobby, and restaurant areas are grand and elegant, the floor in our fifth-floor room had a very unavoidable slope to it. The elevator is only big enough for two people comfortably, maybe four if they squeeze in. The staircase, while safe, has some quirks in its layout, door swings, and railings that reflect a different era of construction. I appreciate historic buildings. They were built in a different time, and sometimes they can't be adapted to modern expectations and accessibility requirements. I was OK with the quirks. The building is very well maintained. That said, a guest with mobility or accessibility issues might want to call ahead and have some candid, fact-checking conversations before booking. These details may be charming inconveniences to some guests but genuine obstacles to others. We loved the hotel and the area. The Lafayette has a character that a modern hotel simply can't replicate, and its location makes it an excellent place to experience Marietta. We'd happily stay again, quirks and all."

Super 8 by Wyndham Athens

10/10 Excellent

"First time staying here. Everything was clean, beds were comfortable, plenty of parking. No frills. Can't speak to the breakfast because I didn't partake. If I had to make a criticism, and this is such a small things, but the shades on the lamps leave much to be desired. They don't cover the bulbs at all, so no matter how many lights are on, it's bright in the room. The towels were thin. Nothing worth taking away a star."
