The lady that helped us complained I used Expedia and took me over 15 minutes to check in. I wasn't happy with what she said because I use Expedia many times.

First I had a booked through Expedia here, expecting to pay when I get to the hotel, someone from the hotel called and HOUNDED, me for my method of payment. Why have the option to pay at the hotel, when that wasn’t the case, on top of that, the card I gave wasn’t the card I wanted to pay with, she charged the card full price before I even got to the hotel and even explained to her, you can have it on file, but this isn’t the one I’d like to pay with. Not a good experience before we even got there. Now check in was fine. I just was very disappointed in my room, compared to other Americans this hotel wasn’t as nice as others, not updated, old features, small tv, and the bed was horrendous, was not a comfortable stay. Also, the surrounding area doesn’t have a lot of choice for DoorDash or any thing like that, so be prepared to buy a lot of snacks. We won’t be staying here again, way too expensive for the quality. I’d rather drive from Duluth and spend the same amount of money. I stayed here 5-6 years ago for a funeral, and it was a very nice hotel, I guess standards haven’t been held.

Charged up but left chargerless
The room had a damp smell to it. Everything worked fine. Left behind a phone charger and called a day later and it was no where to be found. Had to buy new one. Not happy about that but apparently someone needed it more than me.

Front desk staff was nice and helpfull. Check-inn and out was fast and simple, rooms were clean and comfortable. Would stay here again if i'm in the area.

The staff was very helpful. It would be nice to get the breakfast back as the over the counter stuff doesn't cut it.They should add a 2nd set of curtains to windows as the ones that close don't close all the way and allow for someone from the outside to peak in. very unnerving to say the least.

Only thing I did not like was it did not have a hot tub. The room was great as was the rest of the hotel. I'm glad they served a hot breakfast. The other AmericInn we stayed at in Cloquet was not nearly as nice as this one. The room was big, clean, updated, and the bedding was a lot more comfortable.

Check-in was great, very nice older lady who gave restaurant recommendations, etc. From there, it was downhill. Room smelled musty and old, bathroom is tiny. Tried to swim at 8am Thursday morning when pool opened, only to be told it was closed for weekly cleaning and would be done about 9am. Came back down at 9am, and cleaning hadn't even started yet. With check-out at 11am, that meant no swimming, which is one of the only reasons I booked this place. Hello...I have a 4-year old! The lady argued with me that there is other times to swim, even though we were only there the one night. Breakfast = almost non-existent. You can ask for a muffin and fruit at the front desk. We walked next door and had a wonderful experience at Perkins! Would not stay at this outdated and overpriced hotel again.

Electrical outlets did not work. Bedside lamps did not work. Housekeeping came pounding on my door at 10:45 and two minutes later the phone rang. Did not answer, but I suppose they wanted to rush me out. I was out at 11am as required.

Breakfast was good but contactless service is no longer needed. I could get my own juice from the machine and but couldn’t serve my own food. Why? Buffet restaurants are open everywhere.

The staff was very friendly and the rooms were very clean. The window did not get a lot of natural light as it was right next to the pool and all we seen was the siding.

The hotel itself is OK the rooms are way too small for the price it’s over price Cheryl who works at the front desk is really mean and testy no matter what you ask her if she has no information she does not need to be in guest services. Jared on the other hand was a sweetheart

The room seemed quite small for the price. I don't think it needed a giant closet with the ironing board in it.

Very friendly, helpful staff, and the rooms are a;ways nice and clean. Some of our family has moved up to this area, so this is where we stay when we visit them. It's our 5th time staying there, now.
