"Very friendly, helpful staff from reception to bar to restaurant. Lovely comfortable room with great character features dating back to the 1500s when the hotel was built as a wool merchant's home. All that you require in a room was provided. Ample free carparking and outside seating area and great access to the town centre for exploring the 2000+ years of history on your doorstep. If you struggle with stairs, ask dor a ground floor room as the original builders didn't install a lift. Any attempt to install one now would be extremely difficult without spoiling the character of the building."

"Amazing stay… loved our 2 bed apartment! Clean, lots of space & comfortable. Pool and spa was lovely great addition to hotel. My 6 year old also loved the hotel, staff and guests friendly. We did a few walks around the other lakes very beautiful area. Would definitely recommend and visit again. "

"This is a brilliant place to stay. Lovely ancient pub, very cosy. Food is delicious ! The waitresses are adorable and can't do enough for you. Our room was spacious with a good mattress. A bonus in the bathroom: ginger-scented toiletries! Only downside: deliveries at 6am, just under our window..."

"The hotel was right in the centre of town and our room overlooked the Market Square and the church. Extremely comfortable. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. Short stay parking was very close but it was a five minute walk to long stay parking. Building works going on on the front of the hotel at the time but that did not disturb us in any way"
