Walking distance from the Christchurch railway station - handy if doing either the alpine or coastal rail trips). Cheat Bike hire available at the motor lodge - handy if not driving. Close to Riccarton shopping centre - slightly longer walk (but walkable) distance into the city centre. Chinese restaurant 5min walk away that stays open until midnight (handy fo late arrival). 20min drive away from the airport.

The host provided free ride to train station. It is a great overnight stay before an early train ride.

Lady at reception was lovely. Disappointed with cleanliness of unit. Carpets stained, dusty, not vacuumed and crumbs on table. The shower door seal was half ripped off and the hand basin seal was faulty.

We had a wonderful stay. Phyllis was helpful and friendly and went out of her way to accomodate us. Shops are walking distance, and we had everything we needed. Will definitely stay here again..

I booked 3 rooms for 3 nights but the manager at the hotel booked only 1 night and I needed to beg for a room…

Hello Maya , Thank you for your feedback . but please dont say you have to beg for a room . as i said the previous owner didnt booked another night and someone else booked it . i did my best to help you , i had to accomodate the other person to other motel and paid 50 extra from my pocket as an difference of the room . kept you in the same room . Is there anything else i could have done to make it better?Thank you

Excellent location near the train station and the motel manager does complementary transfers to/from the station and also provides plunger coffee in the room. Great value for money in a great location.

Decor was a bit dated. Lighting was dull. I suggest at least a couple of brighter lights in the lounge area to assist in reading. Was clean & the bed was comfotable.

Was only an overnight stay so that I could catch the Tranz Alpine. Conveniently located near the station. Friendly and helpful staff. Very quiet location but it was a Wednesday night. Room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.
