Great Western Hotel

Great Western Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"The hotel was pretty good in general. Room was fine: very clean. Slightly old-school grandparent vibe instead of funky Newquay surfer vibe, and some of the fittings were slightly run down if you looked closely, but that's being really critical. Breakfast was excellent with unusually good veggie choices. Staff were helpful. The beach location was dramatic. It was quite pricey but I suppose that's the cost when staying in Newquay last minute during school holidays."

Jamaica Inn

Jamaica Inn

8/10 Good
"Staff were great and most helpful. Chose to dine in the bar area and not the restaurant and the food was fantastic and value for money, drinks are a little more expensive than the norm. Room was clean, nice bathroom, would recommend for a stop off in the area, Dont expect 4/5 star luxury the building is 18th century and for that you have to take the fact its not modern but it is a fantastic place with lots to read and see everywhere in the building"

Mannings Hotel

Mannings Hotel

8/10 Good
"We chose Mannings for a second time due to its brilliant location for the theatre and the major bonus of secure parking. As with our previous visit, the staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming throughout our stay. They are a real credit to the hotel. Although comfortable and generally clean, the room was basic, and the decor a bit tired. The bathroom layout in particular is quite tight (at only 5'4", my knees were touching the door when using the toilet). The grout and silicone around the bath and shower are in need of a good deep clean or refresh, as inevitably in a well used room with built up moisture, it was grimy and stained. Appropriate allocation of time for a decent deep clean really would make a world of difference here. As a personal preference, it would be great to see improved in-room coffee options beyond standard instant sachets, and we missed the nice little biscuits provided on our first visit! Breakfast was straightforward and did the job well. The fresh croissants were delicious, and my husband was a big fan of the thick, creamy yoghurt. We really appreciate the location and the lovely hospitality from the team, but a bit more attention to room maintenance and the little details would make a big difference to the overall stay."

St Michael's Resort

St Michael's Resort

10/10 Excellent
"Some hotels give you a room. St Michaels Resort gives you a memory. My partner and I spent three wonderful nights here, and St Michaels became more than simply the place where we stayed...it became part of our Falmouth story. There is something special about the atmosphere: beautiful, peaceful and effortlessly welcoming. Everything came together to make our stay feel genuinely memorable, and we left with that rare feeling of wishing we could remain a little longer. I even bought a few pieces of St Michaels merchandise because I wanted to take a small part of the experience home with me. That probably says more than any ordinary five-star review could. Falmouth gave us the scenery, but St Michaels gave the trip its heart. Thank you for hosting a chapter of our lives that we will always remember. We arrived as guests, left as admirers, and will certainly return. Samuel"

THE NICI Newquay

THE NICI Newquay

"Overall lovely hotel with beautiful decor and facilities. Everywhere was very clean. The overflow car park still undergoing building works and £27 a day for parking is very overpriced. No toilet roll in our room. Very slow service at breakfast and ran out of milk at and could only offer oat milk. Seemed to be more waiting staff just stood around rather than serving"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Charlestown?
The best area to stay in Charlestown is directly within the historic Charlestown Harbour area, particularly around the Quay and along Charlestown Road. This small, historic port village is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site, famous for its Georgian harbour and tall ships. It's incredibly picturesque and compact, with most attractions within easy walking distance. The main area is centred around the harbour itself, where you'll find a small collection of independent shops, eateries, and museums, including the Shipwreck Treasure Museum.Couples often find this area superb for a romantic getaway. The opportunity to stay in a hotel or guesthouse with views of the historic harbour and its ships, combined with easy access to seaside walks and excellent dining, makes for a memorable and relaxed experience. For families, staying close to the harbour is also ideal. Access to the small, sheltered beach for rock pooling and paddling, as well as the fascination of the tall ships, provides entertainment for children.
When is the best time to go to Charlestown?
The best time to visit Charlestown is between late spring and early autumn, specifically from May to September, when the weather is at its most pleasant.During these months, you'll experience warmer temperatures and less rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the harbour, coastal paths, and enjoying the outdoor attractions. The longer daylight hours also allow for more extensive sightseeing. For those who prefer a quieter visit and potentially better value on accommodation, the shoulder months of May, June, and September are excellent. The crowds are typically smaller than in the peak summer months of July and August, yet the weather remains generally favourable for enjoying everything Charlestown has to offer. If you're interested in watersports or spending time on the beach, July and August offer the warmest sea temperatures, though this is also when the area sees the most visitors.
