At this point on the boundary trail, you can see that ash still pervades its banks, though the inevitable spread of flora and fauna will soon build up enough topsoil to revitalize the area. I had never seen a clearer, and more definitive view of the tributary, even in photographs. It is astounding how much of the mountain's topography, geology and habitat are on clear display on this trail. The hotel in the common/public areas was cold and dimly lit. Our room was a disaster.......blood stains on the mattress and what appeared to be blood stains on the carpet as well, one of the drawers were missing from our hutch and the other side of the hutch, the finish was worn off.
