Close to the medieval city of Carcassonne, at the foot of the Montagne Noire and 40 minutes from the first beaches of the Mediterranean, it is perfect as a base for visits to the region. It can also be for a stopover during a business trip due to its functionality and its geographical location.

House 5 is an old shed restored in 2008 and located at the end of a cobbled cul-de-sac. Peace and privacy guaranteed! Maison 5 is in its layout an elegant combination of contemporary and old with its stone and lime walls, its polished concrete floor and its parquet floor, its modern bathroom, its rustic bedroom, its bright kitchen and its sunny terrace. with Italian cobblestones. The kitchen is carefully equipped, all the furniture and decoration are a mixture of flea market furniture and objects brought back from distant travels. Character, charm and comfort!

Caunes Minervois is a charming village in the south of France, at the foot of the Montagne Noire, famous for its 8th century abbey, its 12th mansions and its quarry of pink marble. In the center of the village are all the shops you will need (bakery, grocery store, supermarket, butcher, local fruit producers, wine cellar, hairdresser, florists ...) as well as bars and excellent restaurants. On site, you will find the following services: town hall, post office, doctors, nurses, pharmacy, physiotherapist ... Village of artists, you will find many craft workshops (potter-ceramist, sculptor, jeweler, painters ...). Caunes is also animated by concerts and cultural events of all kinds. There is a tourist office where the very professional staff can provide information in many languages and book activities for you.

Many hiking trails start from the village. We can therefore forget the car throughout the stay!

It is located 20 km from Carcassonne and its medieval city classified as a UNESCO heritage site, 25 km from the village of Minerve, 40 km from Narbonne, its cathedral, its Roman ruins, the Cistercian abbey of Fontfroide and from the Mediterranean Sea. Some of our favorite activities in the region are mountain hikes from our village, walks in vineyards and wine chateaux, bike rides along the Canal du Midi, picnics on its shaded banks, shopping in the colorful fruit and vegetable markets. The Canal du Midi, a World Heritage Site, is 15 minutes from the house. You can rent a boat on the canal from Carcassonne or Homps (located 25 minutes from the house), ride a bike along the towpath or stop for lunch in an open-air cafe along its shores.

On the Montagne Noire side, there is no shortage of hikes and swimming in its various lakes (Pradelles Cabardès lake, for example). One of the deepest chasms in Cabrespine in Europe is a surprising visit on the road to Pradelles Cabardès lake.

There is a swimming pool in Peyriac Minervois, 5 minutes by car from the house and a pond in 20 minutes (Jouarres pond in the town of Pépieux).
