About this property
Chisholm Cabin on the North Rim
Situated on the storied and historic Marshall Ranch, moments from the entrance to America’s most beloved State Park - Palo Duro Canyon, Chisholm Cabin is a destination on most traveler’s bucket list. One of the best features of the lovely view from this cabin is the proximity to the sheer edge of the canyon wall. Flint scrapers and arrowheads can still be found on this grouping of North Rim Cabins. The site where these cabins were constructed was used by Comanche’s as a “butchery,” and nearby Buffalo Draw was where the Indians drove buffalo over the cliff as a hunting technique.
Blending the West Texas legendary ranching past with the relevance of Americas second largest canyon, this cabin is sure to engage the senses and captivate the imagination of our guests. Longhorn Cattle roam the adjacent pasture and the steep margins of the canyon view consist of bright, banded layers of orange, red, brown, yellow, and white rocks that represent four geologic periods. Modern but rustic, this cabin is immaculate and fully furnished.
Located in Canyon, this apartment is in a rural area. Palo Duro Canyon State Park and Bar Z Winery are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those in the mood for shopping can visit Big Texan Steak Ranch and Town Square Village. Looking to enjoy an event or a game while in town? See what's happening at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium or Tri State Exposition. Be sure not to miss outdoor adventures like hiking/biking trails, horse riding, and mountain biking. Visit our Canyon travel guide

Excellent! Beautiful views of the canyon. Location is perfect for a weekend at Palo Duro canyon. The cabin was clean and had everything needed. Definitely would start there again.
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. We just wished we’d had booked a longer stay. Our cabin, the Chisholm cabin, was perfect for us. Very clean, very peaceful and excellent views. I’ve already recommended it to my friends and family and look forward to staying there again.
We plan to come back to this oasis right on the rim of the Paol Dura Canyon. Well-appointed cabin with a beautiful interior. Views everywhere. Even though there is a cluster of cabins here, they are situated to be very private. The back porches look right out at the canyon.
Cabin itself is lovely with a great view. Was disappointed in the faux fireplace as was expecting a real one. Foam mattress was not the most comfortable.
This property was amazing. So much so that it’s inspired our near-future retirement home. From the reservation process to post-checkout, the communication with the host was excellent. The property is beautiful and very clean. The views are spectacular and included a path around the entire property that covered the area. On top of that, free-roaming aoudad families came by for my morning coffee and for feeding and playing in the evening. The cabin was spacious and well appointed with all the basics and plenty of extras from the kitchen being well stocked with cookware and dinnerware, a dishwasher, televisions with satellite, fireplace, patio rockers, patio table and chairs and a gas grill. There’s even free WiFi for the cabin. Even in July, the central air keeps the cabin comfortably cool and the ceiling fans help circulate the cool air as well. I love the access control from the gate code to cabin door lock code. No physical keys or keycards for you keep up with, risking you being locked out of the cabin or the whole property. We will definitely be staying here again! The hosts have an excellent operation.
We had a great time at Palo Duro Canyon. The place was exactly as advertised. It was so peaceful sitting on the back patio enjoying our beautiful surroundings. We couldn’t ask for a better vacation.

Weekend Getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the Doves Rest Cabins. Very clean and comfortable with many luxuries of home ~ would stay here again and recommend to friends.
Close to State Park entrance for hiking, etc. Sat on back porch, grilled and enjoyed the views ~~ canyon, wildlife, spectacular sunrises with a constant May breeze.
Loved the Cabin. It was too cold for us to do any hiking. We are going back in a month and staying at same cabin. We hope to see more of the canyon and get in some hiking.
Gorgeous setting. Adorable cabin with excellent TV/channels, kitchen equipped with all you needed, fireplace with lots of wood and starters, spacious bedroom with comfy king size bed. Added plus dog friendly . 17 acres of Doves Rest property is beautiful on Palo Duro Canyon rim .
We stayed at the Dove Rest Cabins for a few nights on our way to Colorado, and we couldn't have asked for a better way to start our vacation. The cabin was immaculate with loads of amenities. Both nights we had a restful sleep, thanks to the comfortable bed and cool a/c. The patio, with it's views of the canyon, was a slice of heaven. It was a great location as well, being semi-remote but only a few minutes away from the State Park. We'd definitely all love to stay again.
They thought of everything - Really, Dove's Rest is top notch
Our family stayed in the Durango & Chisholm cabins and everything was better than we could of imagined. I know this sounds over hyped but they were clean, fully stocked kitchen for Thanksgiving (they even had a Crock Pot) and a wonderful view of the canyon.
The location is 3 minutes from the Park entrance and there is a new convenience store (Sad Monkey Mercantile) with a Wine bar and a place to read a couple of blocks away.
The host was readily available and very helpful the couple of times we called.
we will definitely rebook if we come back to the park.
