Quiet Ocean Front Cottage With Stunning Views & Private Beach Close To Rockland

This well kept, bright and renovated little cottage is nestled 30 feet from a private cove & beach on the Atlantic ocean. It is quiet and perfect for relaxing, strolling the beach and rocks, launching your kayaks and enjoying a firepit on the oceans edge.. A 10 minute walk to the other side of the island brings you to McLoons Lobster Shack, a Maine foodie destination.

Heaven Scent has 2 floors of living area. The upstairs is a large, open room with 2 twin beds, a queen bed, 2 dressers and a chair near the windows overlooking the beach. The staircase is a little steep so if you are over 6’ you will have to watch your head. Bed linens and towels for 4 included as well as plenty of blankets. We provide toilet paper (2 rolls) and paper towels(2 rolls) but depending on use you may need to bring extra. The first floor hosts the bathroom, galley kitchen, dining and living area as well as an easy to use propane heater to take the chill out of the shoulder seasons. A futon with an upgraded mattress converts to a full bed. Linens are not provided for this. We have added a clothes dryer in 2022 for your convenience.
There is also a 'game (chess, checkers, etc.) table' with 2 chairs as well as a breakfast bar with 2 stools. The first floor has decks both front and back with a slider opening to the deck facing Lobster Cove and the Atlantic ocean. There is a firepit just beyond the deck that faces the ocean. Lobster cove is a sandy/rocky beach perfect for building sandcastles, searching for treasures or just sitting in your chair watching the sunrise, waves, boats and birds go by. The cottage has a gas grill and a Weber charcoal grill as well as all the pots, pans and dishes needed for most cooking you plan to do during your stay. Coffee maker, microwave, toaster, electric stove/oven, wine glasses, coffee mugs, etc. There are books for all ages as well as several decks of cards and a few of our favorite board games.
The dining room table has 2 benches and seats 6 people as well as a bar at the kitchen with 2 stools. There are 2 Adirondack chairs and a small table with two additional chairs on the deck facing the ocean. A fire pit with ‘stump’ seats lies between the deck and the shore. 4 portable chairs are also available in the shed and are great for sitting on the beach in front or taking with you to your favorite picnic spot. The cottage has a grass front lawn between the parking area and the cottage as well as a grass lawn between the ocean and the cottage with a fire pit. The beach is perfect for launching your kayaks or taking a swim. There is Maine lobster shack within 10 minute walk of the cottage (McCloons) if you want your lobsters prepared for you or if you wish to cook them yourselves, Jess's Market just 10 minutes away and sells lobster as well as a wide array of the freshest fish and seafood available. If your prefer a restaurant, there are dozens in nearby Rockland and its vicinity. There is parking for 2 cars and plenty of grass to play games. There is also a clothes line if you prefer to use over the dryer.
We do not have a phone or TV but we have excellent Wi-Fi. If you need to do laundry, the Park St Laundry in Rockland will wash, dry and fold your clothes, just drop them off on your way into town. One month from your stay we will send you a welcome book with many more details on what the cottage has as well as information about the surrounding area, restaurants, kayak rentals, etc.

Relaxing by the ocean
A real vacation cottage, not a city condo on the shore! Comfortable, clean and perfectly located. This was our second stay.

My happy place
This is our third year staying at Mike’s cottage “Heaven Scent” and we’ve already booked next year. The cottage is “Maine rustic” but all that we need with a darling porch for perfect Maine sunrises. Walking distance to the greatest lobsters/lobster rolls and Gifford’s ice cream. The cove is perfect for tweens exploring for sea critters, fishing, and for watching the blue heron feasting, and osprey fly-overs. The construction noise from building the house next door was annoying but should hopefully be done by next summer. It’s just enough space for me, my sister, and my 13-yo son (if she ducks her head to walk upstairs). Be aware the bathroom is on the first floor if that matters to you in the middle of the night.

Experience could have been better
Cute house, however extremely damp, had issue for first two days with dozens of mosquitoes inside lots of bites on kids and myself. Also had a lot of mold in places. Uncomfortable beds and lack of bedding/pillows. Neighbors dogs were in the yard often and even messed in the front yard.

Great location!
This place is a great place to stay in mid-coast Maine. It’s close enough to amenities but far enough away to feel relaxing. Communication with Michael was great.

Our young family thoroughly enjoyed our week at the cottage. Even with the coastal haze, it was a perfect experience for all!

quaint cottage
Beautiful area. Quaint cottage for my husband and I. Nice beach to go out kayaking and beach comb for shells. Loved watching sail boats and lobster boats come in and out of the cove.

Perfect for a Couple or Small Family
My husband, 4 year old son, and I stayed for a week in this cozy home. The pictures and property description were very accurate and Michael was quick to answer any and all of my questions. The home was just right for the 3 of us. There is only 1 bedroom, but we were happy to share for the week. The stairs leading to the bedroom are a bit steep with low ceilings, so anyone with mobility concerns should be aware. The bathroom is tight and can feel a bit damp without a fan, but useable for the week. We never had any issues with water pressure even when we took back-to-back showers. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to cook a nice dinner one night and grilled another (we ate out a lot!). You can tell the property is on the older side, but we found it very clean and comfortable. The real star of the property is the cove. The ocean is steps away and we loved walking out at low tide and kayaking out during high tide. There are only a few neighbors who were all absent or very quiet while we were there. It was very private without feeling spooky. There is a Super Walmart about 15 minutes away and plenty of shopping and restaurants in nearby Rockland, Rockport, Thomaston, and Camden. I would definitely recommend this property!

Quiet and convenient
We loved it, can’t beat the location and viewing the inlet as the sun comes up. Not far from lighthouses and lobsters. Only issue is the roof is a bit low upstairs, even for us both less than 6feet tall. But if you want the full Maine experience this is a terrific spot.

Great Week
The location was ideal. Tucked away quietly from US-1, but close enough to take advantage of the local restaurants and brew pubs. Camden and Belfast were an easy drive. The views from the property are spectacular and we had all we needed for a relaxing stay. My wife and I are boaters and Spruce Head Marina was a convenient bonus to our stay. Would definitely return if just the wife and myself.
