"We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay. Our king room on the first floor was very comfortable, spotless, had a large bathroom, and even a little back deck. The historic property was beautifully restored and clearly very well cared for by innkeeper Veronica and her team. Veronica's gourmet breakfasts were a huge treat, different every morning, and served with attention to every detail in the elegant dining room. Veronica was happy to share suggestions on activities and restaurants in the area....

"There were bugs in my room which I did not appreciate especially spending the amount of money I did for a room over the holiday. Staff was friendly, but it wasn’t not clean and pictures did it justice."

"The staff were friendly however they charged me for my service dog. When I brought it to the attention of staff the next morning she said a credit had to be done by the manager who was the person who checked us in and she would leave her a note. I never heard anything from her explaining why there would not be a credit. The breakfast was nothing special having the standard powder eggs, the waffle mix was in small containers and empty on day one, the biscuits were hard as a rock on the bottom. The room was comfortable and clean with partial ocean view with a small balcony."

"Not too bad of a hotel, room was clean. Our window leaked while it was raining. Walked in to check in and had to wait about 5 min before someone came to the counter to help us. Could easily hear people talking from our room, could smell food from the neighbors room, a little over priced for how it was (I understand it’s on the beach but at least update the place to make up for the price). Also didn’t realize we were having to pay for parking till we got there (hotel.com did not include that in the listing) Still crazy to me for having to pay for parking tho."

"Upon checking in, we found the hotel undergoing a co.plete renovation. Most of the main lobby closed off and the bar moved to the restaurant. The elevators were also being renovated and taken out of service 1 or 2 at a time out of the 3. I would have expected Expedia to have some type of construction notice when booking. I always stay at the Southbank when in Jacksonville, but this had to be the most disappointing visit EVER!!! Call the hotel beforehand to confirm status of renovation to avoid any issues."

"I arrived at approximately 9 PM with my young daughter after a long trip and was informed that a $100 deposit was required on a card only. I had $80 available on my card and offered to pay the remaining $20 the following morning. I also offered cash, but every solution was refused. My husband respectfully called the front desk to help find a solution, and instead of assisting us, the staff member threatened to call the police. The lack of professionalism and willingness to help was extremely disappointing. After finally checking in, I discovered multiple issues with the room. The bedding contained visible stains, the chair was stained and dirty, there were signs of water damage on the ceiling, and the trash bin still contained garbage left behind by previous guests. Finding someone else’s trash immediately raised concerns about whether the room had been properly cleaned and inspected. Traveling late at night with a small child is stressful enough without being treated this way. Between the poor customer service, intimidation, and unacceptable room conditions, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had. Photos were taken to document these issues."
