It is not obvious from the description online that the hosts live in the house and rent out rooms for the night. If we had known this, we would not have selected this property for our stay. The row of shoes in the entryway should have alerted us to this fact, but it was only when dinner cooking smells and noise from the kitchen started drifting up to our room, that we realised this is a rented-room type setup, rather than a true "Inn" that values guests' privacy and rest. We had especially selected it for its purported upscale, picturesque nature, but were left disappointed given the lacklustre surroundings, high nightly rate, plus additional cost for a somewhat lacking breakfast we forked out.
Note that there are no coffeemaker, water kettle, plateware or microwave facilities in the kitchenette area of the King room.
Since the house borders on a very busy, noisy main road, there is no chance of enjoying the balcony peacefully.
The hostess alerted us to the fact that they were preparing for a major event the following week and that there would be some noise that evening. We were fine with it initially, but by midnight the music was still blaring loudly with a full party going on downstairs.
We felt cheated out of a good night's rest and left well before checkout time the next day.
Although the hostess was very friendly and accommodating, we will be opting for a normal hotel stay on our next trip to Calgary.
