"I read many of the other comments and I was pleasantly surprised by the resort. My check in time took <5 min (it was a Wednesday in May though). The resort was clean and the staff was very friendly. I was pleased that they doubled up staff were needed to always have someone that spoke English available. The food and drinks were acceptable. Overall the resort look a little “tired” but renovations are in progress. I would come back. "

"We absolutely loved our stay this past week. The staff was very accommodating, the food from the restaurant was great (we had breakfast every day and dinner twice during our stay), and what an amazing view out to the Gulf/Ocean! The staff especially were great - very helpful from way before we arrived to ensure that we knew what to expect and how we could make the most of our trip by booking nearby tours. The only things we thought could be improved were some minor updates/upgrades to the bedrooms - the mattresses were a little stiff (very basic spring mattresses); blackout curtains would be a bit help in the morning (bring your sleep masks - sun is BRIGHT by 6 every morning); but overall, we were very happy and would stay again for sure! Thank you for making our week so special!"

"Castillo Tambor was a shot in the dark for my wife and I. We had never been to Costa Rica before and weren't sure what to expect or not expect. We arrived late and were graciously welcomed by hotel staff. She was very helpful and welcoming, ensuring that we were happy with our room prior to leaving. This Hotel is True Castle as the name indicates. Our room was amazing and had an unbeatable view of the ocean. Surrounded by amazing animal and bird noises every morning the tastiest coffee we've had in a long time, equaled a true slice of paradise for us. The friendly staff assisted us with information about the surrounding area and was very informative. Castle grounds and city felt safe throughout our entire stay. We met with other guests who were from all over the world and made good new friends. The natural landscape of the pristinely-kept grounds were beautiful. Fruit trees, Avacado Trees, and Palms hug this property perfectly. We took hundreds of pictures of the Castle and its ground. Just Stunning. Every morning you'll see staff tending to the grounds. Even the owner of the Hotel was available and very accommodating to our every request or question. My wife and I will be booking this place again in June with our 3 children. There isn't a thing we needed that wasn't within a 20 minute driving distance. We truly recommend Castillo Tambor for couples or families looking for a relaxing vacation with all the amenities, activities, and beauty you could ask for."

"Nice modern place. Only about 25 rooms. Pool area is great but gets real busy on the weekends. Reasonably priced but bring money if you want to eat or drink there. A more affordable option is the beach plaza towards the lighthouse. Lots of food trucks and street vendors "

"I have travelled to costa rica many times and this was one of the most exquisite locations I've ever seen, The thundering sound of the ocean waves along with the incredible pink sunrises can not even truly be described with words. Everything was magical and the inclusive breakfast was also very nice. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and it is a place I will be back to soon! The golf course was also great and a good daytime activity for all skill level golfers. "
