What a lovely property! Stunning. The pictures online does not give the whole beautiful feel of the place. Across from the castle. Walkable to center of town. Wonderful wonderful beautiful staff. Great and very affordable breakfast. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else!

Stunning property! The online pics doesn’t give you the whole impression of this villa. The staff are warm and inviting! It even has a chapel in the villa. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else while visiting braganca. It’s across from the castle. Walkable to center of town and a wonderful very affordable breakfast! Free parking one block away.

What a find! I am almost reluctant to review this very special place but it's safe to say you will not regret booking on of the five bedrooms. Our was very large, with a separate sitting room and access to the cloister overlooking the lovely garden.

We booked a "superior twin room" for this stay, which turned out to be a large suite on the first floor of a large, old stone mansion. Huge bedroom with a good heat pump, along with a frigidly cold bathroom and similar frozen sitting room. There's a large shared veranda at the rear as well. This would be 5-star accomodations in the summer, with the high ceilings and spacious surroundings. But only the bedroom itself had heat in the cold February of our visit, and we caught colds there during our stay. No on-site parking, but easy free off-street parking is about 130m away. A short walk to the castle, or to the centre of the old town. Lots of cafés and restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. Fantastic breakfasts and staff -- incredibly nice people.

Great location and hotel! I was confused by how to get inside when we arrived. Just use the call button and someone will come open the door. Once inside, all staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking is about a block away, by the police station, which they will tell you about.

The place is similar to a bed and breakfast more than a typical hotel. Parking is off-site but there is parking close by. The place is close to the town center - plenty of dining and cafe options.

Just a lovely and unique property with a very special good feel. The grounds and shared balcony were added extras. The breakfast spread was home made and yummy. All great value for money too. We had dinner in the castle which was also very good.

Fabulous accommodation, perfect location, just below the Citadel! Beautiful suite, everything spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The old historic building has been renovated to the highest of standards. our host was perfect, very professional and helpful. This is such a cool location. We only stayed for one night but the breakfast was delightful, staff was kind and welcoming, and the room was spacious and clean. Be sure to call when you arrive so they can come greet you at the door!

Gran casa antigua con jardín en el centro de la zona antigua. Nuestra preciosa habitación daba al jardín, amplia con cama cómoda. El desayuno es espectacular. La atención muy buena. Con parking gratuito muy cercano.

C'est adoré mon séjour de quatre nuits à Solar de Santa Maria. La taille humaine de l'hôtel, la proximite du centre ville, la possibilités de garer la voiture sur un parking public gratuit à trois minutes à pied. Le bâtiment etait magnifique avec beaucoup de caractères et un très grand jardin pour s'y reposer avec un livre ou le soir. La chambre était propre et confortable. Le petit déjeuner gargantuesque. Mais c'est surtout le service qui a été exceptionnel. Un grand merci aux deux jeunes femmes qui ont été aux petits soins avec moi mais aussii avec tout les voyageurs y séjournant. Je reviendrais y séjourner sans hesitation.

Estancia genial, la casa tiene un encanto especial ya que los propietarios han reformado sólo lo justo y necesario para habilitarla como hotel, mantiene toda su esencia con la piedra y los artesonados en los techos. El personal, como siempre en Portugal, super amables y serviciales.

Es un antiguo convento situado en la subida al castillo y próximo al centro. Está bien mantenido y hay un aparcamiento publico aenos de cien metros subiendo hacia el castillo a mano izquierda, dentro de unas instalaciones oficiales.

Een belevenis in een echt royal huis. In oude muren is het wel koud, maar er was een goede airco. De kamer is stilvol, de badkamer modern ingericht. Het ontbijt was echt fantastisch, zo wel als belevenis in een "vorstelijke ruimte" met uitbundig en stilvol gedekte tafel als ook aanbod van zelf gemaakte jam (4 soorten), meerdere kaassoorten uit de streek, fruit en alles wat je maar bij een uitgebreid ontbijt kunt wensen. Echt een aanrader.
