We stayed in the converted signal box which was delightful.
Photos on the wall downstairs show the work involved in getting the box from Ballarat, and there are items from the box's original use on display.
Unique and excellent accommodation in the "Governers Carriage". Comfortable, warm and peaceful. Highly recommended for a weekend romantic getaway with a 10 minute drive into Daylesford.
Weather was miserable (not unexpected), but the hydronic radiators made the place quite cosy and comfortable, Rooms were clean but a little dusty on windowsills, etc. Breakfast supplied was a little light-on - four small sachets of cereal, a loaf of bread and six serves of jam for two days, but good orange juice.
Drop-down washbasin in bathroom, although authentic, needs some support - I seem to remember chains either side of basin on the trains. And with the only mirror on the opposite side of the carriage, made it a bit hard to shave!
Overall, a pleasant bushland location and attractive garden, close to Ballarat, Castlemaine, and within 8km of Daylesford We enjoyed it.
Such a unique experience. In a secluded location you can only hear nature around you. Beautiful refurbishment of the train carriage into something extraordinary. Our host, Kim, went through the carriage with us showing how to operate everything. It was truly a great experience
It was beautiful. Away from everyone. Very clean. Everything supplied. Plenty of room in bathroom to put things. Lovely outlook of trees and garden. Friendly owner. No problems. Only comment would be that the freezer in the frig is small, so if you are planning dinner with frozen foods you would need your own chiller to keep things frozen. We had no problems with communication. We are with optus and Telstra.
The bush settings provides a quiet and relaxing environment. Our host Kim was fantastic providing a warm welcome along with a brief history of the End of the Line Railway and some local knowledge.
We stayed in the Governor's carriage which I highly recommend.
What a great idea. The guys have tastefully and expertly renovated and furnished an old "red rattler" train carriage. Many of the fittings are original and the thought that has gone into converting the spacious carriage into a high quality self-contained unit. We were there on a very cold, wet and windy weekend. The carriage stayed cosy and warm, even if the elements outside did try to spoil things. The "end of the line" is about 1.5km from a nice hotel (Swiss Mountain Hotel) which serves up a good variety of tasty dishes, also has an inviting open fire.
The peace and quiet is amazing, all you'll hear is nature.
Everything was lovely. Location great. Close to the local hotel which had excellent food.
Very cold and heating took a long time to warm up. Would be nice for future guests if host could put the heating on a few hours before arrival of the guests.

Great location and fantastic concept! However it was lacking cleanliness and maintenance.
Lovely quirky accommodation (signal Box) Good amenities excellent restaurant only 1.5klm away down the road.
Freiondly owner who was extremely helpful.
Great venue for overnight stay, comfortable & warm.
The TV was limited to the ABC, with the bad reception.
The provisions were minimal.
We stayed for 2 nights, but only had 4 coffee sachets between us.
It was nice that we were provided with milk & bread but only enough jam for 2 slices of toast each. For the cost of the stay, I expected a small basket of locally sourced produce. This would have made the experience more luxurious to match the accomadation.
Great place to stay. Neat, clean and suitable for 2 people. Perfect for a honeymoon or romantic getaway as your privacy is assured.Big sized bathtub and shower and comfortable Queen size bed.
