Seafarers Getaway

10/10 Excellent

"Loved it, clean, modern, magnificent views. Highly recommend!"

Casa Favilla B&B

10/10 Excellent

"It is a beautiful B&B, the owners are very nice, helpful, friendly, attentive and informative. It has a beautiful garden in the back and front. It's a short walk to the shops and beach if you want to go for a bit of exercise. The kitchen is well stocked and all thought out. It's a great place to stay and Apollo Bay is a beautiful place too."

Apollo Bay Holiday Park

10/10 Excellent

"Overall, we had a good stay and the accommodation itself was very good. The property was comfortable and met our needs. However, the customer service and communication were quite poor. The instructions for collecting the keys were not clear enough, and we were genuinely worried that if we arrived after 6 pm, we might not be able to get the keys and access the property. This caused unnecessary stress, especially when travelling and arriving later in the day. Apart from the communication and check-in arrangements, everything else was good. We would just recommend improving the communication and providing clearer instructions for guests arriving after hours."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Beech Forest?

The best area to stay in Beech Forest is within the small township itself, as it offers the most convenient access to local amenities and attractions.

Beech Forest is a small, welcoming township located within the Otway Ranges. It's truly a gateway to the Great Otway National Park, with the main road, Old Beechy Rail Trail, running through its centre. You'll find a few local shops, a cafe, and the historic railway station, which serves as a focal point for the community. The township is compact and easy to navigate on foot.

Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will appreciate the tranquil setting of Beech Forest. It's an ideal base for exploring the area's natural beauty, with various walking trails and waterfalls easily accessible. You can enjoy quiet evenings after a day of hiking, perhaps dining at one of the local eateries.

Families will find Beech Forest a good choice due to its proximity to nature-based activities. The Old Beechy Rail Trail is superb for leisurely bike rides or walks, and there are several spots for picnics.

When is the best time to go to Beech Forest?

The best time to go to Beech Forest is during the warmer months, from late spring through to early autumn, specifically November to April.

During this period, the weather is generally mild and pleasant, making it ideal for exploring the Great Otway National Park and its many walking trails and waterfalls. You'll find comfortable temperatures for outdoor activities, and the daylight hours are longer, allowing for more time to discover the natural beauty of the region.

Families often find these months excellent for visiting as the conditions are suitable for children to enjoy activities like the Otway Fly Treetop Walk or exploring the Redwood Forest. There's less chance of heavy rain, which can make some of the unsealed roads and forest paths less accessible or enjoyable.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will also appreciate the milder weather, great for scenic drives along the Great Ocean Road, enjoying picnics amidst the lush greenery, or simply relaxing by a cosy fire in the evenings.
