Hotel Eclypse de Mar Acqua Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"Cozy, clean, simple cabanas. Fall asleep to the waves and ocean breeze. Good food, breakfast can be served in your room. Walk through the mangroves to Old Bank and get a delicious lunch at Mami’s. Helpful staff, easy hike across the island to Wizard Beach."

Palmar Beach Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"What a gorgeous beach! This was a magical place with the friendliest staff, a great restaurant, and beautiful accommodations. I chose the Jungalow room because I wanted to be immersed in nature. The structure was rustic, but it was so cool hearing all the jungle noises while I slept. The shower was also big and open to the jungle, which was really cool. My friend chose a newer air-conditioned room, which was really lovely. We met travelers from all over and we’re having breakfast with them by the last morning. Highly recommended!"

Red Frog Beach Island Resort
10/10 Excellent
"My family of 4 had a lovely time at red frog beach. It was pricier than other hotels, but so glad we did this anyway! It is a higher end resort and our villa was incredible. I highly recommend this property."

La Loma Jungle Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"Excellent all around"

The Lodge at Punta Rica

Akwaba Lodge Island Boutique Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"What a beautiful spot!! Friendly staff and amazing food! Highly recommend!"

Coral Bay Bungalows
10/10 Excellent
"There was nothing we didn't like about the Bungalows! They were very clean, comfortable and the view from the deck was gorgeous. Our hosts, Alfred and Sonia, were so helpful and generous. They shared tips about the islands, and booked the water taxis, so we were never stranded or overcharged. Sonia is the "Queen of Breakfast". Jerry, the chef, was not only an excellent cook, but he was also very atuned to our tastes and requests. The rooms are fully stocked, and if we needed anything, it was supplied (we borrowed fins and umbrellas). If you get a chance to go here, do it!"

Aqui Hoy
6/10 Okay
"My husband and I recently stayed at Aqui Hoy for 4 nights and while it was a bit isolated, it was a relaxing and peaceful location. We had the place to ourselves, so that was lovely, but I do think that having neighbours in the adjoining cabin would have impacted on our privacy, had there been someone in the room beside us. Katy and Marcel were welcoming and friendly. It was an added bonus to have a restaurant on site. The food was wholesome and reasonably priced. As were the local beer options. We made use of the kayaks on hand, and enjoyed the sun in the lounge chairs. Marcel took us out to Hospital Point to do some snorkeling one day, and that was a good outing. A few improvements that would make for a better stay would be to have a sliding screen door so that a breeze can come through in the evening and at night, since there is no AC, and the no-see ‘ems come out at dusk and in the morning. It would have nice to have had more options for breakfast. And we were a bit surprised that we had to settle our tab in cash, but could charge the amount for our nightly stay. Aqui Hoy is a solid 3 star accommodation, better than ok as the rating seems to denote in Expedia."

ataraxia bocas del toro
8/10 Good
"Beautiful suite and friendly staff. The walk to town was difficult and not well maintained- I would not want to do it after dark. The food was good but very pricey ($25 USD for dinner of pasta with no veg or protein even for a child who received a smaller portion and of course no wine!) and disappointed there were no local food options. Otherwise very happy with the stay and the staff!"
