Find hotels in Baños from CA $97

The best area to stay in Baños is the town centre, particularly around the Plaza de Armas.

The town centre is the heart of Baños, where most of the activity takes place. It's a compact and walkable area, with hotels, restaurants, and tour operators clustered around the central square and along Calle Eloy Alfaro. You'll find easy access to the main thermal baths and the Basilica Nuestra Señora del Agua Santa.

For couples, staying in the town centre offers convenience and a pleasant atmosphere. You'll be within walking distance of cosy restaurants, local craft shops, and the evening buzz of the Plaza de Armas. It's easy to arrange excursions and enjoy the town's amenities without needing transport.

Solo travellers will also find the town centre an excellent base. Its central location means you're never far from other travellers, making it easy to join group tours or meet people at cafes and eateries.

The best time to go to Baños is during the shoulder seasons of spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May). These periods offer agreeable weather conditions and fewer crowds, providing a more relaxed experience.

During spring, the weather is pleasantly mild, and the landscape is lush and green as the region awakens from winter. This is an excellent time for outdoor activities such as hiking and exploring the numerous waterfalls, as the water levels are typically good. The temperatures are comfortable for walking around and enjoying the town's natural beauty without the heat of summer.

Autumn also provides mild temperatures and generally clear skies, making it ideal for sightseeing and adventure sports. The foliage begins to change, adding a different kind of beauty to the valleys and mountains. Fewer tourists mean you can often enjoy attractions like the "Swing at the End of the World" or the thermal baths with more space and tranquillity. It's a great time for couples seeking a peaceful and scenic getaway.

While the summer months (December to February) are the warmest, they also see the highest number of visitors, particularly families during school holidays. This can lead to busier attractions and higher prices.
