Great location for summer and winter
Vacasa customer service was amazing. There need to have some electrical maintenance. Very few switches worked. No outdoor lights worked either

Plenty of space
Location was amazing. Plenty of room for 7 adults. Lots of table and chair space! Great living room, with all-reclining furniture. Game room was great, but pinball machine only partially works. That being said, house needs maintenance. Mostly annoying stuff that’s easily fixed or replaced. Such as… bring all your own baking pans, theirs are dirty rusted and completely unusable. Fridge door missing all the shelves. Sink disposal didn’t work. Beds all comfortable, EXCEPT the bunk bed mattress (lower, didn’t use the top), was so uncomfortable we couldn’t use it. Outside. Creek, beautiful and such a soothing sound. Hot tub was so nice and ran perfectly. But, everything was dirty, and this is where lack of maintenance really shows. It’s obvious no one maintains or cleans all of the exterior decks and stairs. Fire pit area, in complete disarray and furniture was awful. None of the parking area or path/steps down to the house are lit; there are lights but none of them work. it’s pretty obvious the owners don’t ever visit or use the property. It could be an exceptional property for families if someone just put some effort into it. Bottom line. If you are looking for a launching pad with plenty of space and a decent kitchen to prepare and eat meals before you head out for the day, this place works. Last note: if you bring your kids… there is no yard and zero outdoor space for kids to play.

not so clean
Disappointed with the overall look of the building much older than presented, Jacuzzi was old and not so clean, so was the house. Missing pillowcases-which we needed several calls to get. I understand that the cleaning needs to be timely but also should have been more thorough...I felt we left the condo cleaner then when we got it. Would like to receive some refund for the cleaning fees.

Could be awesome
This place could be awesome, but several factors made it not so. It wasn't ready on time for check in (by more than an hour) and it wasn't all that clean. There were moths in the fridge, unhooked smoke detectors in a pile in the kitchen - stuff like that. Not major, but not great. Also the ice machine didn't work. House and location were fine.

Meh
Better to start with the No's and finish with the Pro's. Upon arrival there was a musty smell in the house, one of no central A/C or simply being shut up for a while. There was trash on the back porch still and well as burnt beer 6 packs and vaping cartridges out around the chimenea. A vent was hanging out of the ceiling in the living room. One of the stove eyes doesn't work. Only one arcade game is functional, pin ball has missing button to be able to use L bumpers and POV shooting game never powered up at all. No hair dryer at all in house. Hot tub filthy. Never got above 94F and had gray "jellyfish' coming out of jets. As a hot tub owner, it's past time to be drained and fully cleaned. Last day on way out, heating element is shot in dryer. Washed clothes only to tumble dry with no heat for 45 minutes. Had to find a coin operated laundry on the way out of town. It's a dated property where pics are not truly revealing and obviously filtered when you review them online. So my wife and I began to clean. A lot. The Pros, our property was ready early and we received the text. Our check-in info was clear and easy to follow. Someone had cut some firewood for us and left it on the back porch that burned great in a warming and inviting fireplace. This is a nice size house! Each and every room had a smart tv and was easy for our kids to use as we have Roku at home. The back porch was huge and great to hang out on. Kids loved the creek behind the property. More than enough level parking. Close to a ton to do from gem mining to great eating. Super close to Sugar Mtn resort, but I wouldn't walk with small children. the arcade game that did work has a ton to chose from, my son's favorite anyway. Upon contacting Vacasa, we had a hair dryer the next morning (had already left for the slopes) and they also refunded the cleaning/hot tub fees. They were unaware of the dryer upon departure. They called several times to assist us with our stay. We'd love to stay again and give 4+ stars but the owner needs to get involved as there are other properties nearby for just a bit more that seem more rewarding.

Perfect home for larger groups
This was an awesome property to stay at with a large group. We had a wonder fall weekend away with our kids (2-16yo) and the home was perfect. The creek outside was a favorite, there was adequate seating, very adequate space for sleeping, and the location was perfect for getting in and out easily (not much travel up mountain roads). It would be an ideal location for a ski group as it is a very reasonable walk to the ski lodge on Sugar. I will say that, like more homes that are listed for this size group, if you are planning on eating meals there the home could use about double the silverware. That would be my only suggestion.

Beautiful North Carolina
Overall, it was ok. Compared to other VRBO homes rented, I thought this was a little cheap in the essentials department. No paper towels in the kitchen. Limited to 2 kitchen trash bags. 3 "complimentary" laundry pods. It boasts of a game room -- 1 of the arcades doesn't work at all. Another has a number of very old late 80s/early 90s fighting games you can 't figure out how to play. So the pinball machine is it. This was one of the reasons we chose this house, for the game room. The area is beautiful. The stream behind the house is minimal and the body of water you seen in the picture -- there's no fishing. But, like I said, the area is beautiful.

So beautiful
Getting in was easy. The place was clean, beautiful and so relaxing. The kids loved it. We only planned a couple days there on our way to the beach and wish we would have done our whole trip there instead. Highly recommend this place. Parking was great compared to most that we seen. It really was great. Definitely be staying here again. Grocery store a few minutes away and close to grandfather mountain, which was amazing!!!!!

Great Location for Skiing and Tubing
Located just yards from Sugar Mountain ski and tubing slopes, Icicles Ski Chalet is perfect for a family outing. With 4 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths, a game room, well supplied kitchen and hot tub, this place is awesome. We had a great winter vacation. I highly recommend this place.
