Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Bakki?
The best area to stay in Bakki is within the village itself, particularly near the harbour and the main street, for convenient access to local amenities and the ferry.

This small, concentrated area is the heart of Bakki. You'll find most of the village's services, including the ferry terminal for Westman Islands, along or just off the main road that runs through it. The layout is compact, making it easy to get around on foot.

For travellers looking for a convenient overnight stop before or after a trip to the Westman Islands, staying in Bakki village is ideal.
When is the best time to go to Bakki?
The best time to go to Bakki is during the summer months, from June to August, or in the shoulder seasons of May and September for fewer crowds.

Summer offers the most pleasant weather for exploring the area. The days are much longer, with nearly 24 hours of daylight in June and July, which gives you ample time for sightseeing and outdoor activities. Temperatures are typically mild, ranging from 10°C to 20°C, making it comfortable for hiking or boat trips to spot puffins. This is ideal for families looking for a relaxed trip with plenty of daylight for activities.

For those who prefer a quieter experience with good weather, May and September are excellent choices. The temperatures are still agreeable, usually between 5°C and 15°C, and the main tourist rush has either not yet begun or is winding down. You'll find attractions less crowded, and accommodation prices might be slightly lower.

Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy.
