"We absolutely loved our stay at the Chunky Bear !!! Thank you Kountry for being such a great and responsive host. I would recommend anyone to stay here. It was so quiet and peaceful. "We made our fourth visit to this property; we've fallen completely in love with this corner of Deep Creek Lake. We love to swim, and the deep water dock area is perfect for diving into this pristine water, but also for sitting in the chairs and watching the day go by. We also love to cook on our vacations, and the kitchen has every pot and pan and tool we've ever looked for. (The dishwasher is tiny but helpful, and the sink is large. The cozy seating areas both indoors and out are perfect for reading, talking, and sometimes napping, and hot tub are a nice bonus. The hosts are warm: perfectly helpful if there's ever a question or a need. We don't come every year, but it's firmly in our list of favorite places to retreat and relax."

"We were in town for a wedding. Exceptional welcoming from Brandy. She even provided us with a book of things/places to go and handwritten personal recommendations. Grounds are gorgeous! Peaceful and right on the water. Fire pits, picnic tables and seats to simply relax right outside of your room/patio. The room was clean and loved the cabin decor. Only downside was the lack of hot water. You have every bit of 20 minutes before it’s a cold plunge lol. Gas station and Burger King a 2 min walk across the road. We left some items and Brandy immediately called us while we were still in the area. Overall, I would 100% stay here again. Can’t wait to return and bring friends/ family"

The Inn at Canaan

"This hotel seemed pretty popular with people passing through and was reasonably priced. There were not many amenities, but there was porch chairs and a fire pit on the grounds with some views of the mountains. Mini golf was available for a fee. Staff was pretty friendly and there was biscuits and gravy on Sunday morning but not Saturday. I think this was an adequate stay and near Davis, Thomas and the state parks."

"Overall, a comfortable stay for a couple of days. The cabin was clean, the bed was comfortable (a king) and shower/bathroom very good. The kitchenette did not have a cook top (and we knew that when we reserved), but the microwave was adequate for our short stay. The setting is very pleasant, and views of the lake were a treat when we were out walking the dog. Recommend with caveats below. Shortcomings: the Wi-Fi was slow when our next-door neighbors were around; cable TV connection was spotty, activating easily at times and refusing to boot up at others. If we had been staying longer, we might have sought some extra help from the staff on these issues."
