The best area to stay in Arriano is the Old Town (Casco Viejo), offering a blend of history and convenient access to local life.

The Old Town is Arriano's historic heart, characterised by its narrow, winding streets and traditional Basque architecture. It's largely pedestrianised, making it pleasant for strolling, and you'll find a wide selection of pintxo bars, local shops, and the famous Plaza Mayor. The Arriano Cathedral is a prominent landmark within this area.

Couples often find the Old Town ideal for an authentic experience. Its proximity to the waterfront promenade provides lovely evening walks, and the abundance of cosy restaurants makes for romantic dinners. Many boutique hotels here offer a personal touch, great for a special getaway.

For solo travellers, the Old Town is an excellent base. Its central location means you're never far from public transport connections to explore further afield, and the lively option of the pintxo bars makes it easy to enjoy an evening meal or a drink.

When planning your trip to Arriano, the best time to go is during the spring (April to June) or autumn (September to October) months.

During these periods, the weather is pleasantly mild, with fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season. This allows for a more relaxed experience when visiting the region's culinary hotspots or exploring its natural beauty. You'll find it easier to secure reservations at popular restaurants and enjoy the walking trails without the intense summer heat or the chill of winter.

For those interested in outdoor activities like hiking or cycling, spring and autumn offer ideal conditions. The lush green landscapes are at their most picturesque, and the temperatures are comfortable for spending extended time outdoors.
