Amazing Stay for Friends and Family
We went for my wife's 40th birthday with multiple families with kids. It was a perfect venue and stay that was closer to the Liberia airport vs Fortuna. We had Tucans on the property, parrots, and plenty of beautiful birds. There is enough distance from each of the villas that gave you some privacy, but close enough to also feel together easily. One issue you can run into in being in the jungle is bugs, but there were no mosquitos or any issues at all staying here, definitely nothing in the houses either. Nuevo Arenal is the local town about 10 min down the road, with some great food options and local stores to get provisions as needed. Definitely more locals and low key, which was nice. The host, Coltin, was phenomenal. We had several issues arise, including forgetting an important bag at the rental car agency at the airport, and Coltin was there to help and use local connections to get it all solved (even went to pickup the bag himself!). He also arranged special cake for the birthday, balloons, and was incredibly responsive. 10/10 for him. Overall, great experience.

Great vacation
Maria was a great host. She booked us a couple excursions for a discounted rate, answered all our questions, made recommendations, and was very accommodating. And her English is good which was helpful because our Spanish is no bueno ;). Lake Arenal is beautiful and we enjoyed the small town but it was quite a drive to all our excursions in La Fortuna. Maria was there to greet us at check-in. The property was really pretty and well landscaped. The Enchanted Cottage felt private. It had all the essential appliances and cooking utensils. We wish we would have had a couple staple items like cooking oil and salt/pepper but nothing a quick trip to town the next day couldn’t fix. The cottage could use some cosmetic updating and the bed was a little harder than I would prefer. We loved hearing the birds and rain and just relaxing in between excursions. The Wi-Fi was good and they have cable TV. Very nice hosts, cute town, good restaurants nearby, private and clean cottage, pretty property! Thank you!

Family Anniversary Vacation
Our family of seven spent four wonderful days at Arsenal Springs. We occupied two of the villas, Casa Grande and Casa Primera. The grounds and the views were beautiful! The Casa Grande had the had the most spectacular views. Maria Louisa was very friendly and hospitable. Chef Nixon catered a dinner for us one night. The food was wonderful and we all enjoyed his and his cousin’s service and humor. One suggestion: comfortable patio and pool furniture would have made the experience even better. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

Fantastic property with spectacular view
We had such a great time! Property is absolutely beautiful set on hillside overlooking the lake. Villas were all very clean and unique, perfect for our group of 15 including 7 young kids. Tons of nearby activities in rainforest, volcanoes and towns. We also had the private chef cook several dinners and breakfasts. All the food was fantastic, great to stay in after days out exploring!

Extended family getaway
The property was stunning. We were a party of 14 and used all of the villa's. The hill to get to the top house was a steep one but made for a good workout. The houses were all filled with towels, toilet paper and soap and were all very clean. Maria helped with each and every request and question we had making our visit a spectacular one.

Charming Costa Rica Mountain Home with Lake and Mountain views
Our family had a great time here and Maria and Tom were wonderful and responsive hosts (even texting and meeting us late at night on our arrival as we did have a little trouble finding the gate in the dark). The home is colorful, cheery and bright with local accent touches (paintings, rugs, artwork) that really give a feel of being in Costa Rica. We had daily adventures in La Fortuna and up to Rio Celeste - all are a bit of a drive from the home but we did feel central to explore the area. Also, coming home to the pool, view and waking up to the birds and flowers made us feel very at home away from home. Thank you Maria and Tom for a lovely stay!!!

Beyond expectations
Tropical paradise. There are four separate villas on this property. We rented all four, but you may rent them separately. Maid service is provided for fresh linens during your stay. The host speaks English and Spanish and is warm, welcoming, and helpful. We opted not to rent a car, and the host arranged for van transport for us for day trips to La Fortuna and LaPaz. And also to and from the airport. All the villas are well equipped, clean, and quaintly furnished. One thing to be aware of is that two of the villas are at the top of a pretty steep hill, and the other two are further down. Both have beautiful views of Lake Arenal, but if your party is using both, be aware that it is a challenging trek up that driveway. We were eight 70 year olds, and we were able to do it, but something to be aware of. (The pool is near the bottom two villas.). All in all, we absolutely loved this place.

Even more beautiful than the photos
We had a wonderful stay at the Arenal Springs Villa. The property is even more beautiful than the photos, and Thomas, Maria, and their team are so kind and helpful. One day a few members of our group were taking a walk around the property and the gardener cut down fresh grapefruit for them. It made their whole trip! The property is about an hour away from the major Arenal attractions, but the drive is beautiful, and it was worth it for us to be able to stay altogether in such a beautiful villa.

Rainforest Beauty
Let me start off by saying this property is absolutely stunning, the grounds are located on a beautiful hillside that overlooks Arenal Lake. We were a group of 13 and occupied the Casa Primera & Casa Grande. A true getaway, we felt totally secluded. The host was very helpful and gave me suggestions on things to do and the info for a private chef. There is nothing close by so the private chef was one of the best recommendations, Chef Nixon was phenomenal! If you want a private quiet getaway look no further. The home has a lovely pool and there is good hiking areas all around. Speaking of getting around the closest “grocery” store is about a 10 minute drive. There are cabs, however they can be a bit pricey. We hired shuttles to take us back and forth. If you want to go anywhere, rent a car or schedule shuttles ahead of time. As mentioned cabs are pretty readily available but for large groups may prove difficult to find. A group of 4 of us needed to run to the closest store, the cost was $40 round trip. We decided to do a few excursions in the area (waterfall rappelling, white water rafting and thermal pools). All the excursions we chose were located closer to Fortuna, which is about 1.5 hour drive away. More about the home: sparkling clean w beautiful design and architecture. Lots of kitchen essentials (plates, utensils, cups, coffee maker). Pool and bath towels. And a washer and dryer in each home. You also get great exercise walking up and down the steep hill to go from house to house. There is also a hot tub that would have been lovely to use during our stay, however it was broken the whole time we were there.

It was a good stay
I would like to say that the property is great. If you are a big family then you have 3 different villas and small room with bath that can satisfy your needs. They are a little further apart but walkable if you are a hiker. The host is awesome and always available. Only bummer was there was no internet throughout the stay and you have bring your own shampoo and conditioner. Also this listing is about an hour away from arenal downtown and hence we had to shuttle and lose 2 hours everyday that we wanted to go to arenal for activities.

Arenal Springs Villas by the Lake is beautiful with amazing views!
We were a group of 18, aged from 3 to 78 y/o, and we occupied all 4 villas. All of the houses were clean and well-kept. One thing to note is that the main kitchen is well stocked with dinnerware and glasses but a little less so for pots, pans etc. if you plan on cooking for a large group. Maria was excellent; she provided caterers for meals at the house, reservations for all of us at restaurants in the area, and provided great tour recommendations. We went to the Springs Resort and it was incredible! We also did some mountain biking, horseback riding, ziplining, and canyoning. They were all great with the canyoning being the most memorable! There were a few things that were less than ideal. It turned out the hot tub wasn’t working when we arrived, and they were not able to repair it during the week of our stay. This was quite disappointing since having access to a hot tub was part of the reason we booked this property. Also, we had a lot of trouble with the internet at either of the houses at the top of the hill (Casa Grande & Casa Bella Vista). That being said, it was still a great property and an amazing experience!

Very pretty and unique
A variety of properties in a gated area viewing Lake Arenal. Was a little disappointed that there was no AC. Our hostess explained that at the altitude we were at the nights were in the 60s. Combined with the ceiling fans we were pretty comfortable. The views of Lake Arenal were fabulous and the jungle like rain forest was magical. Hard rains can happen without warning day or night but the result is foliage that defies description. Furnishings were beautiful and functional. The big house was amazing to say the least. All were nicely equipped throughout. But the experience was made extra special by the warmth and generosity of Tom and Maria. We became friends in a short period of time.

Perfect for family trips!
This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited. We were a group of 17, including three that are 7 and under. We were able to visit beautiful national parks nearby. However, one of my family's absolutely FAVORITE thing to do, was to sit outside in the patio, overlooking the rolling hill and beautiful gardens. Every day we would see several toucans, parrots, humming birds and many other birds. From the property, you can also see monkeys playing in the trees. This was all an absolute treat! Our family hired a chef to cook breakfast and dinner at the property. This worked out great for us, since our large group did not need to worry about finding restaurants that would cater to such a large group at once. Mary and Tom were great hosts and helped us with all we needed. Check-in and check-out was super easy! This is a great place to visit! We highly recommend it!

Our 3 months vacation at Arenal Springs was a delight. Everything we thought it would be and more! Views were spectacular. Our host helped with touring arrangements which simplified the process. We couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing experience. I highly recommend Arenal Springs, Casa Grande, to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation.

Nice place, great accommodating host...
The best part of this rental was the host, Maria. She helped to coordinate so many aspects of this trip. She helped to book excursions (which we did daily) and she recommended some great places to eat...Cafe Macadamia, Tinajas and others. The house was very big and spacious...and could easily accommodate 7-8 people. My reasons for not giving 5 stars are below: The master bedroom mattress is very hard. I liked it on the first night and then it started to feel quite uncomfortable. Also, the outdoor furniture, particularly by the pool is not comfortable and due for an upgrade. We had some issues with ants in the house, not a big deal and not unexpected in a tropical location. We even deal with that home in New Jersey. Lastly, we did excursions daily, but we were an hour away from Fortuna, where our excursions were located...thus...a lot of driving. Lastly, the tiles around the pool are incredibly slippery when wet. The good certainly outweighed the bad and the house is nice...but there is some room for improvement. We did feel safe at all times and we're able to see monkeys and toucans frequently right from the yard and pool area. Overall a very nice place to stay...with helpful hosts right on the property. Unrelated to the house itself....we experienced several fun excursions, but Don Tobias horseback riding in La Fortuna is not to be missed. Best horseback riding excursion of our lives..with well treated and well trained horses. Great tour operators. Skip the cloud forest in Monteverde...not worth the drive or the money. Zip lines in Arenal, Canyoning and white water rafting in the area, all fun excursions. Driving around the lake daily, we did find it odd how lightly used the Lake itself was.

La casa está localizada a aprox 25 minutos de Puerto San Luis en donde hay acceso al lago con diferentes actividades acuáticas y a 45 min aprox de la Fortuna de San Carlos La propiedad tiene varias casas y viven en una de ellas los dueños, los jardines están bien mantenidos y la vista desde la cocina y la habitación del segundo nivel es hermosa. La habitación principal tiene vista al jardin. La otra habitación no tiene ventanas solo la del baño, ideal para dormir pero no para estar en el día ahí por la oscuridad. La cocina es el mejor espacio por la vista hacia el lago y la naturaleza. La propiedad no tiene acceso directo al lago. Nos indicaron muy amablemente el vecino nos podía dejar entrar pasando la calle. En general muy agradable el lugar y los dueños son muy amables. María Luisa una persona muy atenta y servicial. Muchas gracias

Stunning views. Personable hosts!
We had nine adult family members celebrating a milestones for aging parents in their 80s. Also, we had a full-time guide and driver. Ample space. Stunning views. Catered Chef provided a delicious barbecue dinner banquet! Tom and Marie were delightful hosts. Since our van could not make it up to the top house, they shuttled us back-and-forth every time we left and returned. The only reason we gave this beautiful home and property four stars instead of five was because of the inadequate Wi-Fi.

Magnificent views!
Arenal Springs Villas by the Lake is a fantastic place to stay for those who are looking to see the natural beauty of Costa Rica. It is nestled in a sparsely populated area on the northeast side of the lake and is within the lushest part of the rain forest where the density of trees and the diversity of animals is amazing! We had toucans in the trees and found other animals we can’t even name on the property. We had a group of 17 spread across all 4 villas. Casa Grande had a fantastic view where we must have taken hundreds of pictures! Considering that the property is deep in the heart of the rain forest, the place is well kept. While sometimes mother nature can make things more difficult, it is part of the fun and experience of being in such a naturally pristine environment. Maria and Tom were fantastic hosts and were super easy to communicate with. Whenever there were maintenance issues, they were prompt to handle them. Their suggestions were spot on in terms of both food and adventures. We did the rafting, ziplining, and the hot springs. All three were awesome! Thanks again Tom and Maria! Pura Vida!

We were in CR for 3 weeks - Cahuita, San Jose, Arenal, Guanacaste, and more. This was the best place we stayed. We ended up here after a different VRBO failed us. This place was the cleanest and most relaxing place. Check in was extremely fast and painless. The house is absolutely quirky, beautiful, and amazing. It is perfect for kids because it is so whimsical. The spacious kitchen was a joy to cook in. The laundry is inside the house and works great. The pool offers stunning views (plunge, no shallow end) and relaxing lounge chairs. Despite there being other houses on the property, there is a high degree of privacy and it feels as though this is the only house. The owners are wonderful and available but not intrusive. I absolutely and unequivocally recommend this place.

Luxury with a view
My family and I spent a week in La Casa Grande. The property is beautiful and the view is spectacular. We very much enjoyed our stay in the house, which was very clean and comfortable for my family of 4. The house is in need of minor upgrades, i.e. better wifi and a TV with streaming options, but we visited Costa Rica for the nature, which is plentiful. We enjoyed watching the local birds and even saw a toucan on our last day. Tom and Maria were very accessible when we needed them and they were helpful in planning our tours. The property is a little far from many attractions, but the drive is beautiful. I would recommend Casa Grande and we look forward to our next visit to Costa Rica.

The owners of the house very Nice and helpful but the house need Some maintenance. There was no water pressure or hot water was limited and two of the burners of the stove did not work. With a little maintenance the place would be perfect.

Fantastic location, wonderful views, and wonderful host!
The title says it all here, this was a wonderful location and vacation spot. We traveled with 16 people (ages 2 - 84), and this place worked out wonderfully! The main house is beautiful and the other houses offer flexibility and ammenities of their own that were great. The notes of caution would be that some of the fixtures in the kitchens are a bit dated (ice maker did not work), and that the water pressure is quite poor and hot water is almost non-existent. We didn't mind too much, but its worth mentioning. It is also worth knowing that the property is quite vertical, so if you are a large group you will need a vehicle to shuttle anyone older or less mobile from the lower houses to the top, or vice versa. Its definitely walkable if you are in decent shape and don't mind a hill. Tom was a wonderful host, in contact with us throughout our trip, before, during, and after, and a great help with ideas for activities and tours. I've stayed plenty of places around the world, and i would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

My family of 19 stayed at the beautiful Arenal Springs by the Lake Villas for a week. The grounds and villas are beautiful! Maria and Tom also went above and beyond as hosts. They helped with booking activities, dining reservations, and even secured a bus and found a wonderful photographer for us! They were very quick to reply to my numerous emails during the course of our trip planning and even during our stay. It felt like staying with family. Beautiful few days in the enchanted cottage.
My husband and I stayed at the enchanted cottage for 4 days. Tom and his wife Maria were wonderful and willing to help us plan some activities in La Fortuna. We saw howler monkeys and toucans while on the property. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with vibrant colors. The cottage was quaint but relaxing and cozy. Very clean and pleasant. The cottage is a bit far from activities, but great food near by!

This was a vacation for me and my 2 teenage boys. The house was perfectly located for volcano hikes, zip-lining and white water rafting. Maria and Tom were fantastic at making us feel right at home. Perfect Setting!
Wonderful setting makes you feel like you lucky to have found such a gem. The property has an almost plantation type feel, with the large Casa Grande commanding the prime view. The Owners are tremendous and very friendly. We will forever remember our experience here!

A Charming Arenal Area Estate with Access to a Lot of Activities or Peaceful Relaxation
Casa Grande, the main home, and the three nearby cottages provided plenty of space for our family of 17 for the four days/nights we visited the area. The setting is beautiful with very lovely views of lake Arenal and the grounds are equally pretty. There is much to do in the vicinity. We chose day trips to Arenal Volcano and hot springs/ zip-lining one day, the Chocolate Tour in La Fortuna area another and Monte Verde National Biological Reserva on a third. Maria Louisa was most helpful in advising us of opportunities in the area and even made reservations for our party for one of those events. We also had a late arrival and Maria Louisa contracted a local driver to transport them from Liberia to La Fortuna (on our day 2) to meet up with us. Maria was terrific and her help much appreciated! Casa Grande is still very beautiful and well maintained. The other cottages, though older and smaller are also well cared for. We really didn’t allow ourselves time to use the pool but relaxed in the very nice jacuzzi/hot-tub on a couple of evenings. A water problem, which affected the supply to a couple of the cottages, did not dampen (pun intended) our enthusiasm and the owners, Tom and Maria, worked diligently with others to try to resolve the problem. Arenal Springs Villas by the Lake turned out to be a very good choice for our party and I am sure Tom and Maria work hard to satisfy all of their clients.

Beautiful location!!
We were in the casa grande in February 2019. Beautiful setting , lots of space, friendly owner Maria. We enjoyed mostly the exterior sitting area with the great view. The only thing is that he had difficulty finding the place (at night) since google maps (it’s 1 or 2 kilometers off) didn’t show it in the right place.

Beautiful house on gated property
We loved staying at this house! The best part of staying here is your host, Maria. She was so very gracious, it was like staying with family. She was on-site the whole time (her house is also on the property), and was available for any questions, or for helping to book tours. The house was large and roomy for our family of five. It has everything you need to cook some meals in the house, and Maria provided lots of recommendations for restaurants in the area (definitely try The Lucky Bug! Awesome breakfasts!). The kids loved the pool, and the view of the lake is amazing! It is about a 10 minute drive to the nearest town, and about an hour to most of the local attractions.

Fabulous views from luxurious accommodations
The house is very lavish in design with outstanding views of the lake area. The owner who lives on the same property was very helpful with our planning and looked after us well throughout our stay. A car is a must as the location is not close to many things. Thanks for your assistance Tom and sharing this beautiful house. Happy Canucks

Beautiful Property!
Very beautiful property 6 km from the nearest town. Son and I stayed with the intention of getting a real Costa Rica experience (not a resort). This property was perfect for that. Small house, but nice for two. Front porch is very nice to relax in. About 30-40 mins from La Fortuna where a lot of stuff is, but not so close to the tourists that you see them everywhere. Arenal Volcano is not visible from the property, but the views of the lake are absolutely gorgeous. House has functional kitchen but no oven, and you will have to buy/bring any of the bits and pieces you need for cooking ingredient-wise (salt and pepper, spices, oil, sugar, etc). Tom was very helpful before and during the trip. Follow his advice and you won't go wrong. (especially when it comes to drive time) This was our first trip to the country and it went off without a hitch, and lots of credit for that goes to Tom and his wife (who wasn't present, but helped before the trip with recommendations).

Beautiful and unique
This an incredible property with a great host. If you are visiting the Lake Arenal area, I would advise you to stay here at Tom's place. We stayed in the house at the very top of the property. The views of the lake were truly amazing.
