This area is the heart of the island's activity, where you'll find most of the accommodation options, restaurants, and shops. The main beach road runs parallel to the coastline, offering easy access to the sand and sea. You'll find a relaxed atmosphere here, with hotels and bungalows often just a short stroll from the water's edge.

Couples looking for a relaxing escape will find this area ideal. Many resorts offer beachfront bungalows with direct access to the clear waters, superb for swimming and sunbathing. The proximity to various eateries means you can enjoy romantic dinners with ocean views without needing to travel far.

Families will also appreciate staying in this central beach area. The calm, shallow waters of Ao Yai Beach are suitable for children, and many accommodations have facilities like swimming pools.

For the most pleasant weather, the best time to visit Ao Yai is from November to February.

During these months, you'll experience cooler temperatures and less humidity, making it ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities. The sea is typically calm and clear, great for swimming and snorkelling. This period is also popular for those looking to escape colder climates elsewhere, so you might find more visitors.

March to May brings hotter and more humid conditions, with temperatures potentially reaching their peak. While still suitable for beach holidays, some might find the heat intense for extended periods outdoors. However, this can be a good time for finding quieter spots and potentially better value on accommodation.

The rainy season in Ao Yai runs from June to October. While it doesn't rain all day every day, you can expect more frequent and heavier downpours, which might disrupt outdoor plans. The sea can also be choppier.
