We had a very hard time finding it, hours, and when we achieved getting there, the gates were padlocked. We honked and a caretaker came to the gate seeming surprised we were there. “Ferme! Ferme! Finis!” he cried. Showing him the reservation with picture of the chateau, he acknowledged we were at the right place. Reception is only staffed intermittently and we waited almost 20 minutes on arrival to be seen with no indication of our room number or indeed of anything. Same experience when we left for an evening meal in nearby Angers - not a soul in sight and after 30 minutes fruitless and frustrating waiting around with no-one in attendance we simply left. Upon our return the owner was just arriving and our concerns were met with little more than a Gallic shrug and a "c'est la France".
