Modern Four Bedroom Home ON THE BEACH in Grand Bahama

Modern Four Bedroom Home ON THE BEACH in Grand Bahama

10/10 Excellent
"An absolute 5-star stay and easily one of the most rejuvenating trips we have ever taken. We take a long weekend trip just about every six weeks, and from wheels-down to wheels-up, this was hands-down the most seamless, relaxing getaway we’ve had in years. Three days here truly felt like a full week off the grid. The house and the setting delivered exactly what we were craving: total, peaceful seclusion. Pelican Point is very quiet and remote, so it may not be for travelers looking for resort crowds, nightlife, or walking access to commercial strips. But if you want miles of untouched shoreline, serene calm, and a wide-open beach essentially all to yourself, this place is heaven. We did have one minor issue during our stay, but the host handled and resolved it quickly.A few practical tips for future guests to make your stay perfect:Footwear: Water shoes are an absolute must for exploring the rocky coastline and wading out. For us, it was calm seas so there was broken glass that washed up but hadn't been beaten by the waves - lots of sharp edges. Bug Prep: Because the no-see-ums come out when the breeze dies down. Pack plenty of bug spray and consider throwing a small portable fan in your luggage for the patio.Logistics: The entire process—the quick direct flight, grabbing a rental car at the airport, and provisioning groceries beforehand—could not have been easier. We loved every minute of our time here and are already planning our next trip back. Highly recommend!"

The best area to stay in Sweetings Cay is the main settlement on the western side of the cay, near the ferry dock.

This is the most developed part of Sweetings Cay, offering the easiest access to local amenities and activities. Here, you'll find the majority of the cay's small guesthouses, local eateries, and the primary dock where ferries arrive from the mainland. The area is relatively compact, making it easy to walk around and explore the immediate surroundings.

For travellers seeking a genuine Bahamian island experience, staying in this central area is ideal. It provides direct interaction with the local community, access to fishing charters, and opportunities to enjoy fresh seafood from local establishments.
When is the best time to go to Sweetings Cay?
The best time to go to Sweetings Cay is during the dry season, which runs from late November to May, offering warm, sunny weather and calmer seas.

During these months, you'll experience pleasant temperatures, typically ranging from 24°C to 29°C, with low humidity and minimal rainfall. This makes it ideal for enjoying all the outdoor activities Sweetings Cay has to offer, from exploring the pristine beaches to fishing and snorkelling in the clear waters. The consistent sunshine ensures your travel plans won't be disrupted by unexpected downpours.

Couples looking for a relaxing getaway will find this period particularly appealing. The tranquil environment and consistently good weather allow for uninterrupted enjoyment of the island's natural beauty, whether you're strolling along secluded beaches or dining al fresco.

Families will also appreciate the dry season for its suitability for water-based activities. The calmer seas are great for children to swim and play, and the sunny days mean more time for outdoor adventures without concerns about heavy rain.
