Fabulous. Very safe area and the locals are friendly. The hotel itself is super clean, the staff is attentive, and the accommodations are nice. We stayed in August so the room was a bit hotter than I would have liked, but not uncomfortably hot.

Comfortable rooms. Very peaceful situation. Good selection of food at the buffet breakfast. A beautiful view of the coastline, but a longer walk to the beach than anticipated, so not great for everyone. Overall a relaxing stay.

Beautiful, contemporary, stylish, clean. Dining staff needs a bit improvement on service, otherwise good is excellent. Just opened after renovation so understand and totally acceptable, as we were there on the first week. Felt private and exclusive. Happy with location, in the center of Algarve and accessible within 30-45 min to major sightseeing locations.

The property itself was lovely. The staff was not particularly well trained, especially out by the pools. They did not understand what you wanted to order and therefore frequently brought the wrong drink. They were also extremely slow. The free buffet breakfast was very good. The reservation dinner place was good, with well trained staff, but had a limited menu. The would not seat you without a reservation, even though the inside of the restaurant was empty every night.

My experience at Portobay BlueOcean was truly amazing. Absolutely do recommend this hotel. So clean, they did an amazing job with the renovations and the look of the lounge and other facilities in the hotel. Gives a chic but modern tropical vibe in the hotel. The hotel itself was very clean, the staff is also amazing. They’re always on top of everything and making sure things smell clean and that everything is clean around the grounds and even service at buffet, etc. Walk to the beach is not too bad at all as you can access the walkway to the other hotel PortoBay Falesia and take the stairs to the beach. Food was nothing exceptional but was actually pretty good for a hotel. This is a 4 star but it’s definitely a very good 4 star hotel. Perhaps my only complaints or thing i would say the hotel could improve on was making the grounds a little bit more lively. I know that’s maybe not the vibe they’re going for as it seems more of a hotel to relax and for more retired people and families with kids but just seems like there could’ve been more activities or music or performances that could’ve been done for entertainment.

It was a shame that the hotel used fake pictures of the gym. The photos on the website and online are AI generated and do not reflect the real gym, which has only one machine. I had to find another gym 10 miles away, pay €50 for the week, and drive 30 minutes each way. I booked this hotel specifically for the gym and the sauna, but the sauna was broken for the first three days. The jacuzzi was full of kids jumping and screaming, as was the pool. The hotel is far from the beach, so it does not matter if you get a partial or full beach view, it will not be worth the extra money. Overall, the hotel feels like three stars. It is very family friendly, but as a solo traveler, it was full of kids everywhere, screaming and just being kids, which is not what I wanted on my vacation. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of options, and one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had. I would give most of the employees five stars for their politeness and professionalism. I have never been treated so well by hotel staff, especially at the front desk. This was the main reason I did not try to leave and request a refund, despite the gym and sauna being unusable. I will not return due to these problems. One big tip for hotels that want to be five stars is to invest in the gym with basic but good quality equipment. Amazing place, do not miss,

Amazing, anybody who wants to stay there for a relaxing, friendly, comfortable stay has chosen the right place. All the staff are super friendly, the rooms are perfect and the breakfast is amazing. The location is perfect, a lovely little unspoilt fishing village. We have stayed there several times and are never disappointed.
