Villa Los Primos is a spectacular, luxury, oceanfront villa on the Mexican Caribbean coast located in South Akumal, a small, quiet and luxurious community just 2 miles south of Akumal. This villa has tons of character and is incredibly spacious. The villa is huge with 6,000 square feet of living space plus spacious terraces, balconies and decks. It is beautifully decorated with Mexican antiques as well as original oil paintings and all rooms have a view of the Caribbean. The entrance hall has a domed brick ceiling that is quite spectacular and the kitchen, living room and dining room areas are very large and spacious. The beach is just outside your doorstep and on the road side of the villa is a gorgeous enclosed garden area with a guest house and enclosed garage. The villa has five bedrooms, three with an ocean view and one with a garden view. The extremely spacious master bedroom, located upstairs on the southeast corner of the villa, has a king-size bed, luxury bathroom and balcony overlooking the ocean. It also has a wall of mirrors and is air conditioned. On the northeast corner upstairs is a guest bedroom with two queen-size beds,a bathroom that opens onto the hallway and a balcony overlooking the ocean. Between the two corner bedrooms is a studio bedroom with two singles and louvered doors into the hallway. This room shares the hallway bath with the guest bedroom and also has an outdoor balcony overlooking the ocean. Downstairs on the south corner of the villa is another large guestroom with two queen-size beds and a beautiful bathroom. Los Primos has windows and sliding doors everywhere which allows the almost constant ocean breeze to enter every nook and cranny of the villa to keep it cool and comfortable. The Guest House is adorable with lots of rod iron trim dripping with a variety of flowers in almost constant bloom it has a bedroom with two twin beds and bathroom. This was quite the gathering with friends and family coming from all over to celebrate my birthday (we won’t say what year - wink). The home was so beautiful, spacious, and authentic. I cannot say enough about the incredible views, hours spent snorkeling and floating in the blue water and fun in the pool. All 11 of us enjoyed it so much. The staff and management added the extra touches and my birthday dinner by Chef Rosi was a great addition. The location is serene but restaurants and bars aren’t that far away. Our stay at Villa Los Primos with 11 family members, delayed for a year because of COVID, was wonderful. The house was the perfect size for all of us, having great large gathering spots, but also private areas. The Mexican artwork and decor is beautiful and a constant reminder of the creativity of the country’s artists. The location on the beach, along with a pool, meant lots of options for water activities. We took advantage of the available chef service for most of our stay, which meant we had two of them making great meals and a constant flow of guacamole/chips, smoothies for the kids and margaritas for the adults. Anything we needed taken care of, inside or outside on the property, was quickly handled by Pedro and Quetti, including raking the seaweed off the beach daily.
