We booked through Expedia and the host contacted straight away for the security deposit and asked for our arrival time. We paid the security deposit and the host provided a receipt. As it was quite cold and raining, the host had left some lights on for us and the heater ☺️ It was a cosy little apartment with everything we needed! Within a 5-minute walk, there is a supermarket and the cours Mirabeau is a 10-minute walk. The most important attribute of the hotel is its owner, Paul. Paul takes great care of his guests. He is flexible and very accommodating to the needs of his guests. I stayed two times with a week-end in between and he kept my luggage for me and then put it in the room when it was time to check in. He also didn't accept the taxi driver's suggestion to walk a few streets to meet him, and instead told him that he could and needed to drive to the studio's door to pick me up. He was attentive to my needs and made sure that I was having a positive experience. The owner sent instructions for the lockbox to get the keys, but I had never seen a device like that so I did not understand how to open it or that the keys were inside. I had to call him using international minutes and he seemed annoyed with me, but he did come to help me and this was around 9 PM and it was quite cold. The owner changed my room at the last minute to accommodate my daughter staying with me for one night, which gave me two twin beds but it was a ground floor room, which was actually below the ground floor and so had no view at all. The shutters could not physically even be opened. The shower only had hot water for 2 to 3 minutes, so I could either wash my hair or shave my legs, but not both. There was a leak under the bathroom sink that dripped the entire time into a bucket that may have been left for that purpose, but I had to make sure it was positioned just so in order to catch all the water that was dripping. The very worst part was, I couldn’t find a bad smell until I finally found that the kitchen trashcan had old trash in it and also about 2 to 3 inches of disgusting black water. I cleaned it with the dish soap that was in the kitchen, but I almost vomited in the process because it was so disgusting. Suddenly gps told us to park (nothing) but found a local garage. We were shocked that we were not able to drive to front door to drop off our bags. This is located in area with no cars. At 76 and 78 we bumped our way 1/2 mile or so down a cobble stone road (leaving pushing up those same cobblestone roads) Also to our surprise we were on the second floor(in usa terms the third) with no elevator. We had to carry our bags up 3 flights of narrow stairs. Otherwise this hotel is very charming and Paul was fabulous about answering our calls. When we left he did come racing up to carry our bags down. One time we were locked in. He had a friend within 10 minutes come and unlock the door. One of the other tennants had sand on their key which blocked our key from going all the way in. I suppose you get what you pay for. There were no towels, so I never used the shower. I washed my face with my hands and used my robe to dry face and hands. It was warm and the bed comfortable enough. Rugs were filthy and covering broken tiles in the floor. I was really grossed out and tried not to touch any surfaces in the apartment. Alles wirkt verwohnt und etwas vernachlässigt. Die Küche wurde von uns aufgrund des Zustandes gar nicht genutzt. Die Fenterläden konnten nur schwerlich geschlossen werden, da die Scharniere trilweise fehlen. Das hintere Fenster konnte gar nicht abgedunkelt werden. Der angepriesene Innenhof war nicht zu gebrauchen ung glich eher einer Müllhalde. Etwas positives gab es dennoch: Die Betten waren okay, Handtücher und Bettwäsche waren sauber. Auch das Wasser in der Dusche war ausreichend heiß. Die Endreinugung ist nicht im Mietpreis enthalten und muss vom Mieter selbst erledigt werden, ansonsten werden 60 Euro fällig. Wir haben die Endreinigung selbst vorgenommen. Utensilien dafür sind vor Ort vorhanden. Die Lage der Wohnung ist sehr gut um die Stadt zu erkunden.
