His Majesty's is modest in terms of appointments, but more than makes up for this by way of the warmth of its staff and attention to detail. The kitchen punches above its weight, although the menu is understandably limited. Walking distance to beach side and restaurant facilities at a pinch. I enjoyed my stay, although it has to be said that prices in general have increased in Ghana and obtaining good value for one's money is not as easy as it used to be. Sauberes Hotel, ausreichend Platz. Die Lage ist durch die nahe Strasse gewöhnungsbedürftig, liegt jedoch relativ nahe zur Küste (Labadi Beach). While the room was clean, general conditions tell a story of lack of attention and slow decay. Staff was polite but failed the "smile test". The main road on front of the hotel is quite busy early in the morning and mediocre windows and doors don't do much in terms of noise insulation. Amusing note: this is the first time ever that I saw a razor blade resting at the bottom of the toilet. Die Zimmer sind sehr gut und angenehm. Der service ist sehr gut. Der service bei der Reception ist überfordert, sie können nich mit creditkarten arbeiten. Sie verweigern die Abrechnung bei Check-Out mit credit-Karte, weil sie nicht in der Lage sind damit zu arbeiten. But service is slow, although cheerful. My room was clean and everything worked, lights, AC, TV, fridge. The bathroom had bathmats on the floor and a big new bar of Lux soap on the tub. There was a well-stocked tea set on a tray, with several tea bags, 2 cups and saucers, sugars--but no tea kettle. I guess one has to call room service to get hot water. There was a water leak on my second day, and the staff very quickly moved me to a different room with no hassles at all. The staff were friendly and helpful. The dinner I had of fried chicken and french fries was excellent, well cooked and piping hot. The problem was a list of odd things, that were overlooked by staff: The shower curtain was too short so water got on the bathroom floor. There were 3 lamps ion the room, but the plugs on the lamps did not fit the electric sockets, so the lamps were just decorative, I guess. There was no bath mat on the bathroom floor, so one stepped from the shower onto the bare tile, making a puddle. The Air conditioner remote control was missing, so it was either full on or full off by a switch on the wall. For the price, bearing in mind Accra is very expensive these days, this hotel is very good. For the odd problems, had I stayed more than 1 night, I would have made a fuss. The room could have been a little cleaner but it was okay. The staff was ABOVE nice and helpful. They made me stay the entire 9 days because I did consider leaving the hotel becasue I wasn't 100% satisfied with the room but they were so wonderful. The only thing that I didn't like was that one of the workers wanted to charge me about $50 just to keep my luggage at the hotel for a couple of hours while I waited on my flight. Man sollte hier nur im Notfall buchen. Der Preis ist wohl gut, aber der Komfort der Zimmer , vor allem im Bad, ist nicht dem Preis angemessen. Alle Einrichtungen im Bad defekt. Nachts kann man wegen ständiger Geräusche des Service-Personals auf den Fluren nicht gut schlafen. Niemand nimmt Rücksicht auf die Nachtruhe. Das Einzige Positive ist die Küche des Hotels. Frühstück und Dinner sind sehr gut. Der Service des kleinen Restaurants ist freundlich und gut. Friendly help, reasonably good rooms. Don't ever expect the Ritz in West Africa, but if your expectations are realistic, you'll be happy here. Will stay again. ##### Tim
