"We got upgraded from a classic double to the Mary queen of Scots room. The room was facing the main road, but it was so quiet, that you wouldn't have known. The room was really clean. "This was the second time we have stayed here. It is a hotel in a listed building. The rooms are a little smaller than you might like but are very well presented. A listed building, so no air conditioning, small windows, no views and no lift. Bedrooms are all on the first floor so no good if you can't get up stairs. Would have been nice if the young man in reception had offered to help with the luggage as we were obviously pensioners. Location is perfect, just a walk across a bridge...

"It was good to have proper air-conditioning on a hot night. The reception staff were friendly and efficient and the room was clean, with a comfortable bed and plentiful towels etc. The only slight niggle was that the occupant of the neighbouring room clearly had 'bathroom issues' and was flushing the loo virtually every hour throughout the night, with the plumbing being a bit noisy in my room."
