perfect hotel if you are gluten freePosted 23-Nov-2013
I'd asked in my booking for gluten free breakfast and when arrived was overwhelmed by the effort the staff had gone to for me. i was provided with a basket of gluten free goodies for breakfast, a list of local restaurants that could cater for gluten free diet and they had consulted with a local chef. i've never had such great treatment! the hotel is basic, but very clean and nicely decorated. the room was much bigger than expected and a fridge in the room was really handy. staff were very helpful and friendly. it's about a 15 minute walk to main florence and is just off the river. it's in a nice area nearby good restaurants, shops and supermarket.

Good hotel, good price.Posted 22-Oct-2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed our stay. The room was newly remodeled (we were on the fourth floor, appears the first two floors are yet to be remodeled) and very attractive. The staff was extremely helpful, helping with parking, dining recommendations and transportation. Most spoke excellent English, and those with lesser English made up for it with friendly effort, we had no problem communicating. Location was a little away from the center, but was only a 7 Euro cab to Uffizi. All in all, a great, cost effective hotel in Florence to explore from.

Very friendly and helpful staff.Posted 18-Oct-2013
Pros: The staff and convenience of parking.
Cons: I can't think of anything that could be improved.
Location: Most things to see were about a 20 minute walk. There was an excellent restaurant nearby that was outstanding.
The staff at Hotel Orcagna is A-one. The check in was smooth, the rooms were clean and spacious and the breakfast was tasty.

Don't stay in room tenPosted 2-Oct-2013 on Hotels.com
Room ten is very outdated and smells bad, the hotel even puts plug-ins, in the room because it smells. If you don't go first thing in the morning for breakfast then you are out of luck. They don't restock breakfast. Also in room ten you can hear everything so try to get a higher room.

Very good hotel, awesome staff, quiet neighborhoodPosted 12-Aug-2013 on Hotels.com
I booked the hotel based on the reviews and the price. My wife and I were gladly surprised with the hotel. The room in the 4th floor seemed newly renovated, very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was very good, the staff were awesome, did anything to make our stay enjoyable. The location we liked. It is a bit far from the main tourist area (we took taxi to/from train station and during our stay we took the bus). We loved all aspects of the hotel and will stay again.

Florence on a budgetPosted 8-Aug-2013 on Hotels.com
Hotel Orcagna is located just outside the historic city centre. To get to the tourist area requires a half hour walk. Nevertheless, we felt it was a good location with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The room and bathroom was clean and the room itself was large enough to sleep four comfortably. The decor is a little dated and the wallpaper on the landings is a sight to behold if you like floral, but we can't complain given that we were operating on a budget. The breakfast was basic but good (fruit, pastries, cereals, tea, coffee etc.) Also the guy on reception at nights speaks little English, but we got by. He's a bit of a character really. On the whole Hotel Orcagna offers very good value for money, just don't expect the Ritz.

A bit too basic. Room on the second floor with rather dismal decor. Old wooden furniture didn’t help the overall impression of cheapness. Wifi didn’t carry to this room. There was supposed to be wifi per floor, from 2nd floor only floor 1 and 4 came up and neither was strong signal. Tv had no channels not even news in English and other channels often had pixelated picture. Not that I wanted a tv but if you do...... Breakfast was similarly pared down to the basics. Two cereals, cold cheese and meats, sometimes empty waiting to be replenished, and one choice of cakes or bread. It is failry central though, only 20 minutes flat walk to the city centre. And at night if you don’t want to walk to the centre, there are a number of pavement and other restaurants within 200/400 metres. Secure indoor parking available at a very reasonable 10 Euro a day. So if you are driving and need to stay out of the ‘exclusion zone’, it is convenient but not a lot else going for it.

Good Hotel for CouplesPosted 9-Jul-2013 on Hotels.com
I stayed here with a friend in June and was very pleased overall with the quality of the hotel. The room was spacious. the bed was comfortable and the a/c worked which was important given the 40 degree temperatures outside. The hotel is well situated for getting into the old town but is nicely removed from all the touristy hustle and bustle. I would not recommend this hotel for friends necessarily so much as for couples as our room's shower was in the middle of the room with no door and no privacy. This meant that one of us had to leave the room while the other showered. Other than that, I would gladly stay here again.
