“Great find out of the city centre”
Friendly staff made the stay at the Hotel Orcagna memorable. The reception at a late check-in was outgoing and helpful, and when we had questions, the front desk went out of their way to answer them. A nice breakfast every day, and a location that is a bit off the beaten path (plenty of great restaurants around the hotel) made for a very enjoyable stay in Florence.
“Very good value for money, friendly and helpful staff”
Very well located in a quiet, non touristy neighborhood, 15-20 min walk from historic center. Bus station nearby, if you don't want to walk. The hotel itself would need some updating. Clean room and bathroom. Internet free, and worked very well. Ask at the front desk for user name/password. Really friendly and very helpful staff. Good stores and restaurants nearby.
“Great value in expensive city”
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was large and spacious. The location is ideal if you like to experience a quiet environmnet in a residential area with local shops. A comfortable distance for walking to all major sites. Very pleasant walk along the Arno River takes you to the Uffuzi and Pont Vecchio.
“Enjoyable”
Just out of the main downtown, so quiet, yet easy walk to the central sites. Good bargain for the price. Very helpful staff. We have booked to stay there just before we leave.
“Great little hotel on the edge of town”
The Hotel Orcagna is located just outside central Florence but is still only a twenty minute walk to the core. The area is more real neighbourhood than tourist haven. There are decent shops and restaurants nearby. The hotel staff is excellent. We had reservations to see Michelangelo's David before we left the desk at check-in. They were very friendly and helpful in several situations. The woman who serves coffees at breakfast is a character I will not soon forget. This hotel is a great value.
“Minimally acceptable”
The location of the hotel is a little far from the main train station in Florence and the bus makes so many stops it is just as fast to walk the 30 minute distance. One of our main problems was that the A/C was broken in our room so the temperature was about 30C much hotter than outside! They were not able to fix the problem before we left and were full so couldn't move us to another room. The hotel did not offer to do anything or solutions for this problem. The neighbourhood was good, and the hotel staff did recommend an excellent restaurant only a few blocks away. The price was right but due to the problem with our room and the distance from the train station, we would look for something else the next time we visit Florence.
“Problems twice”
Returned to stay at the hotel before we left Firenze for Canada. My wife got bitten badly on the face for the second time while sleeping. The first was when we stayed there 3 weeks earlier - same room. Would preclude us from returning.
