Escape the traffic and the touristy areas yet be right on the ocean watching sunrises and moon rises over the ocean, surfers, whales, windsurfers and kite surfers. Our location is central to all the places you will want to go and we are at your service to share our knowledge and love of Maui. The Space Our cottage was built in 2012 and we welcomed our first guests in 2013. It has all appliances , comfy Serta bed, all-cotton bedding, pillows, towels, etc. Sliding mirrored doors separate the bedroom from main room. The cottage sits across from the beach below our upscale neighborhood and your only neighbor is a doctor on one side and us up the hill behind in the home we bought in 1999. 420 friendly. Air-conditioning, washer and dryer, Netflix and YouTubeTV! And we have an AED in the main house, a Christmas gift from our son! Cottage is stocked with coffee, tea and condiments, fruits and bagels or pastries and butter in the freezer to get you started on breakfast. Snorkel gear, beach chairs, coolers, etc. in a storage bin on your deck and we can give you tips on good things to do and things to avoid. Separate bedroom and bathroom has 2 doors so there is privacy if one person wants to sleep and the other stay up or get up. Plenty of room for two or for a family with a child who can sleep in a crib (available to rent from No Ka Oi Baby Rentals) or on the couch. The area we are in is called 'Central Maui' because you can easily drive to everywhere else. Yet our particular location feels more like country with open beach and ocean in front and to the north. Be aware that there is no commercial business within walking distance but the beach and a golf course are there for pleasure walking! Guest Access Anywhere on the property. It is yours for the duration of your stay. My husband and son surf and with permission, cut through the yard to access the surf across the street. Interaction with Guests At the discretion of our guests. Some have become best friends; some we've never met. The Neighborhood Our neighborhood is upscale, our neighbors really friendly owners. The beach is right across the road in front of the cottage and when the surf is big, it's great to watch the surfers there. When there's no surf, the beach is empty. We love it both ways! It's not a swimming beach but those are a short drive away and by staying here, one avoids the touristy, hot, dusty surroundings of the beach cities Getting around We have a bus system and Jordan and I can drop guests off on our way places but a car really is recommended as only tour buses go up into the valleys and up to the top of Haleakala. Other Things to Note We stayed in a B & B years ago in Switzerland and the women treated us like family and it had such a positive impact on us that we try to do the same and make our guests feel at home. On the other hand, you may want to just do your own thing and that's perfectly fine, too. The communication was top notch. From how to navigate to the property to information about places and things to do. We stayed busy but enjoyed being able to come back daily to a warm comfortable home away from home. One the best places we have ever stayed in. The home was clean and situated in a wonderful neighborhood and just a few yards from the beach. So many details were taken care of by our host. Having warm clothes available just in case we wanted to go to the top of Haliaka, which we did do. To having a portable cooler and ice packs so we could hike and picnic and not feel like we had to eat out constantly while traveling around the island. Too many details to list. Found it conveniently located for morning trips out to Iao Valley, Haleakalā National Park, PacWhale Eco Adventure, and an organic Coffee Farm tour and Brunch at O’O Farm. We enjoyed evening strolls on the many beaches nearby and lots of nights sitting out on the deck for dinner and listening to the waves = heaven. Gail and Jordan's cottage is everything we could have asked for and more. The property is beautiful, well take care of, and secluded. The view from the cottage couldn't be better. Ocean view from the bed? Yes please! The personal touches in the cottage were all perfect. There were snacks, food, and drinks in the fridge already. Everything about the cottage was just wonderful. Gail and Jordan made the check-in and check-out process seamless. If/when we get back to Maui, we will be returning to stay here, and we'll recommend it to anyone traveling to Maui. 100% recommend booking this cottage. ##### Aaron E. Having such a lovely, relaxing, fully stocked home base made everyday so stress free and enjoyable. Watching sunrise and sunset from the patio, listening to the waves every night, what more could you ask for? Well anything else and it’s probably already provided in the cottage! Everything we needed and more was right there for our convenience. It was a great central hub to the whole rest of the island. Gail & Jordan even provided some excellent tips for the rest of our vacation. We also got their car add on and made getting to & from the airport extra easy. We loved that they provided us with snacks and good information on things to do. However, we realized it was an odd location to go and do things. The beach across the street isn’t nice. Stayed here for our 18th wedding anniversary and was Nice to be on quieter side of the island and enjoy alittle more privacy. Only 30 minute, or so ,drive to great south shore beaches and 45-60 to west shore hot spots. Closer to drive the road to Hana, and Mt Haleakala thanj staying the the resorty area. Host live right behind cottage and we're helpful if we needed anything. Cottage well stocked with many small items sometimes needed( toothpaste, baggies, coolers etc) Also small welcome package with some different Maui snacks was a nice touch. Also was nice that Hosts also have a car for rent and could make renting car a a place to stay an easy and smooth process. ##### Aaron R. Located by a beach for surfing we had wonderful views of the water and and area for nice walks! The house is comfortable and well equipped. We could watch the ocean from the kitchen table while eating breakfast. Gail and Jordan were exceptional hosts and had us follow them to Iao Valley State Park for a guided tour! They are so knowledgeable and great advocates for the island! We got to know the local side of Maui whcih we missed when. we went to a resort to end our vacation. Word of caution for beaches--Makena Beach is so very beautiful...but the waves can get unexpectedly rough. This had nothing to do with how wonderful our VRBO rental was. ##### Lisa O.
