"Great location with beach and restaurants only steps away. The staff was very helpful and wonderful. The lobby is welcoming but the hotel rooms could use some updating. Be mindful that some of the rooms ( not bungalows) require uphill walking and steps. Little too pricey but that's Bora Bora."

Le Taha'a by Pearl Resorts

Le Taha'a by Pearl Resorts

10/10 Excellent
"This was the highlight of our bucket-list trip to French Polynesia: three nights in paradise; and it delivered. We aren't accustomed to such a high end experience, so this was an unforgettable and amazing time. The resort grounds and buildings are immaculate, beautifull, and very well-maintained; despite it being the high season, the large footprint of the resort makes for a very tranquil and private stay. The sunset bungalow was spacious and luxurious; and we saw a large variety of fish, including a lemon shark, right from the walkway to our room. There was easy access to kayaks and paddleboards, although they are located on a windy point that makes entry slightly challenging for older guests due to small waves in the lagoon. But the lagoon is clear, warm, and shallow; quite inviting even for a nonbouyant person like myself! We did the drift snorkelling through the coral garden three times and could have done it many more times if we had the time and energy! We also arranged a half day tour of Taha'a (Fenua Safari) thru the concierge; it was very interesting to catch a glimpse of everyday life in this amazing place, and quite interesting to learn about the production of pearls and vanilla. The breakfast buffet was quite generous, so we never needed to stop for lunch. Three days flew by, but it was just enough to have the time of our lives."

Hotel Royal Bora Bora

Hotel Royal Bora Bora

10/10 Excellent
"We had a wonderful stay at Royal Bora Bora and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting the island. The location is excellent, making it easy to explore Bora Bora and enjoy everything the island has to offer. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and perfect for relaxing after a day of adventures. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always available to help with recommendations, transportation, and organizing tours. Their hospitality really made our stay even more enjoyable. One of the best parts of our stay was renting bicycles directly from the hotel. It was a fantastic way to discover the island at our own pace, stopping at beautiful beaches and viewpoints along the way. Royal Bora Bora offers excellent value for money, combining a great location, comfortable rooms, outstanding service, and a relaxed tropical atmosphere. We had an amazing time and would definitely choose this hotel again on our next visit to Bora Bora!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Vaitape?
The best area to stay in Vaitape is the waterfront area, particularly along the main street, Rue Principale. This area is the heart of Vaitape, offering direct access to the lagoon and views of Mount Otemanu. It's where you'll find most of the village's amenities, including shops, local eateries, and the ferry terminal for transfers to surrounding resorts and excursions. The general layout is linear, following the coastline. For travellers looking for convenience and a taste of local life, this central area is ideal. You're within walking distance of the market, where you can find fresh produce and local crafts, and the post office. It's a practical base for exploring the island and accessing boat tours.Couples often appreciate hotels slightly removed from the immediate hustle of Rue Principale but still within easy reach. These offer a more private experience while retaining excellent lagoon views and convenient access to the village's dining options.
When is the best time to go to Vaitape?
The best time to go to Vaitape is during the dry season, which runs from May to October.During these months, you'll experience consistently sunny weather with lower humidity, making it ideal for enjoying the island's outdoor activities and stunning scenery. The average temperature hovers around 27°C, with gentle trade winds providing a comfortable breeze. This period is great for all travellers, especially those looking to make the most of the lagoon's crystal-clear waters for swimming, snorkelling, and diving. The shoulder months of May and October often offer a good balance of pleasant weather and slightly fewer visitors compared to the peak months of July and August. This can be particularly appealing for couples seeking a more tranquil experience without compromising on the climate. While the wet season (November to April) brings higher humidity and more frequent, though often short, rain showers, it can also offer a more lush landscape and potentially lower prices.
