« Unfortunately this was not a great experience. The hotel in itself is quite nice although it shows its age (old carpet, soiled walls etc). We were lucky to have a corner room and these are spacious and with a great view. Avoid going there on weekends: it’s packed and noisy. Weekdays are good. The main issue was with some of the staff. « The property is a historic residence converted for hospitality. It's lovingly restored with modern facilities comfortable for westerners while still feeling like you're in historic Japan. « We were glad we rented a car to get around. You need to have reservations for dinner or you will not be able to eat. Lastly, make sure you ask for instructions on how to run the hot water on for showering, I figured it out, but it took a while. The house is beautiful and great for families with young kids, they have a play room for kids. »
