"This was not what I was expecting as a hotel. First of all we could not find the place. There was no signage indicating the way or that a hotel was there like other places we saw along the road. The directions connected to the listing took us to dead end roads. We finally got near the location and we thought that it was still wrong because it was in a little village and it looked like an abandoned house was there. I finally stopped and used my little Portuguese to ask for help. A nice lady...

Top Tó Hotel Reviews

Hotel Rural La Jara

Hotel Rural La Jara

10/10 Excellent
"Nice hotel, large rooms. We had 2 rooms. One had 3 beds in the main area and 2 in a bedroom. I didn’t feel like the AC worked great in that room, but it got cool at night so we just opened the balcony doors. The other room had 1 bed in the main area and 2 or 3 in the bedroom. All the beds are twins. Both rooms had kitchenettes. Breakfast was great!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Tó?
The best area to stay in Tó is within the village itself, particularly around the central square and the main street, which offers convenient access to local amenities and a peaceful experience.

Tó is a small, traditional village, and its main area of interest is concentrated around the Largo da Igreja (Church Square) and the Rua Principal (Main Street). Here, you'll find the parish church, a few local cafes, and the village's general store. The layout is compact and easily walkable, allowing you to experience the local way of life directly.

Couples looking for a quiet retreat will find the village centre of Tó ideal. It's a place to unwind, enjoy the slow pace of rural life, and connect with nature. You can enjoy walks through the surrounding countryside, explore the nearby Montesinho Natural Park, or simply relax in a local cafe.

For those interested in exploring the wider region of Bragança District, staying in Tó provides a lovely base.
When is the best time to go to Tó?
The best time to visit Tó, Bragança District, Portugal, is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

During spring, the weather is pleasantly mild, and the countryside is lush and green, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring the natural parks. You'll find fewer crowds than in the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience. It's a great time for couples who enjoy scenic walks and discovering local flora.

Autumn also offers agreeable temperatures and beautiful changing foliage, particularly in the nearby Montesinho Natural Park. This season is great for food enthusiasts, as it coincides with local harvest festivals, where you can sample regional produce and traditional dishes. Families might appreciate the cooler weather for exploring without the intense summer heat, and there are often local events suitable for all ages.

While summer (July and August) is warm and sunny, it can be quite hot, and it's generally when more domestic tourists visit.
