The best area to stay in Tizguite is within the medina, particularly around the Batha Square and the Bab Bou Jeloud gate. The medina is the historic heart of Fès and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It's a labyrinth of narrow, winding alleyways, souks (markets), and traditional riads. While it can feel overwhelming at first, it's the most authentic way to experience Tizguite. The Batha Square is a good reference point as it's a larger, more open area often used for cultural events and is near a main entrance to the medina. Bab Bou Jeloud, also known as the "Blue Gate," is another prominent landmark, marking a major entry point into the old city. For couples, staying in a riad within the medina offers a truly unique and romantic experience. These traditional Moroccan houses, often centred around a courtyard garden, provide a tranquil escape from the bustling streets. Many riads offer high-quality service, rooftop terraces with city views, and opportunities to enjoy traditional Moroccan cuisine. The proximity to historical sites like the Al-Attarine Madrasa and the Chouara Tannery makes sightseeing convenient.Solo travellers will also appreciate the medina for its constant activity and ease of finding local eateries and craft shops. Staying near Batha Square or Bab Bou Jeloud provides easier access to taxis and is a more straightforward way to navigate in and out of the medina, which can be helpful when exploring independently.

The best time to go to Tizguite is during the spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) months.During these periods, the weather is pleasantly warm, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from 20°C to 28°C. This makes it ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty, such as the surrounding olive groves and the nearby Oued Fès river, without the intense heat of summer or the cooler, sometimes rainy, conditions of winter.Spring is particularly lovely for couples and those interested in hiking, as the landscape is lush and green following the winter rains. The air is fresh, and the blooming wildflowers add to the scenic charm, superb for leisurely walks or enjoying the views from a quiet terrace.Autumn offers similar comfortable temperatures and is an excellent choice for couples looking for a relaxed escape.
