We offer a nautically themed self-catering accommodation on the second floor featuring a balcony with a view on the river “Oude Rijn”, a seating / kitchen area with a flat-screen TV, a separate double bed room and a private bath room.

Housed in a building from the 1930s, the guesthouse is located ideal for people who want to explore all that Leiden has to offer.

In Leiden, you can stroll through 800 years of visible history. The City of Discoveries is home to the oldest university in the Netherlands. It is also well-known for its rich history and old city center, with its canals, city gates, bridges, windmills, a castle, an observatory, the Hortus botanical gardens, weaver houses, the courtyard homes, two large Late Gothic churches and various historical buildings.

Location, location location
This is a great property overlooking a canal. It was wonderful to sit on the deck and watch a parade of boats pass by. There are restaurants nearby. Our hostess was wonderful and greeted us with complementary wine. Read the other reviews regarding some perceived problems. We found everything in order and enjoyed every minute of our stay.

Welcoming Place to Stay
We spent 2 nights at the Riverside Guesthouse in April. The accommodations were wonderful. Both Talitha and Paul were very nice to talk to and briefly greeted us upon arrival. They provided recommendations for parking and local restaurants. The unit was very clean and spacious. The wine and beer was a nice surprise as well. Depending on where you are traveling from a couple things that my come as a surprise. The stairs up to the unit are narrow and a winding stair. If you have large luggage it may be challenging. We had two carry on bags, it was no problem getting up with those. We lucked out both times finding street parking very close by but that may or may not always be the case. There is smoking in the building. We are both non-smokers and weren't bothered by it. We noticed it mostly when going up the stairs to the unit. Overall we were very happy with the accommodations and will hopefully have the opportunity to stay there again in the future.

Bad stay
Property has a nice kitchen and living, but is smoking inside so smells really bad. Not just faint odor. Owner tries and left wine and snacks. I filtered for no smoking but it appears anyway. Left 2 days early. Old bedding and and crispy towels. No shower enclosure. No view of ducks …just canal and old building. Front living view is nice. Double spiral staircase was really rough.

Lovely guest house
Really nice little place, it was very relaxing to sit out on the sunny balcony and watch the boats passing by. The place had everything I needed and the supermarkets are a short walk away. Talitha is an excellent host, she will make you feel very welcome in her house.

Adorable and well equipped guesthouse
Talitha was a wonderful host, and her place was very comfortable and well-appointed with a nice comfortable bed and a balcony. It was plenty of room and it was very obvious she takes a lot of pride in her rental. The nautical theme was very charming. My only caution would be that this is not a place for people who are sensitive to cigarette smoke.

This property was great!!! The communication was awesome. Recommend the owner add something about the cats as some folks may have serious allergies to them. We actually had to leave early because of work, but will definitely go back.

Excellent apartment
We stayed in the apartment for three nights. The apartment is very spacious with a separate bedroom and then a combined living area and kitchen. There is also a balcony overlooking the canal. The host had kindly provided some wine and beer, and there was water, coffee and tea. It is not in the centre of Leiden, but is close enough. A 20 minute walk takes you to the centre. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. And compared to the high price of hotels in Leiden, we considered the rate for this apartment to be good value.

Not as expected
Flat was not clean and it smells (cigarett smoke and cats). Kitchen equipement was not complete (missing cooking utilities). Windows louvres were broken. The pictures in the offer look better than it was in real.
