When is the best time to go to Tenryu?

For most travellers, the best time to visit Tenryu is during the spring (late March to May) or autumn (October to early December) when the weather is pleasant and the natural scenery is at its most appealing. Springtime in Tenryu offers comfortable temperatures, usually ranging from 10°C to 20°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities. This season is particularly special for viewing the cherry blossoms, which typically bloom from late March to early April. The Tenryu River area, with its picturesque banks, becomes a popular spot for appreciating the blossoms. Autumn also provides excellent weather, with temperatures similar to spring and often clear skies. This period is renowned for its spectacular autumn foliage, as the leaves on the mountainsides surrounding the Tenryu River transform into vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows. It's a fantastic time for scenic boat tours along the river or hiking. While summer (June to September) can be warm and humid, with temperatures often exceeding 25°C, it's a good time for water-based activities on the Tenryu River.

"AMAZING STAY! Run by a very cute and welcoming family. They are the 6th generation to run a Ryokan here in this 300 year old building. They are excellent hosts. They serve delicious dinners and breakfasts. The dishes and bowls they use are pieces of art in themselves. The property is full of interesting and skilfully made antiques. Our view from the room was a classic, beautifully manicured garden illuminated by a few stone lanterns. I really recommend you stay here. It is great value and a...

HOTEL SUI HAMAMATSU

10/10 Excellent

"We had a lovely stay. The room was spacious and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and the staff were absolutely beautiful — so friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed our time here and would happily stay again."

Grand Mercure Lake Hamana Resort & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"Good value for money with an excellent onsen. Rooms are a good size and comfortable. The dinner and breakfast buffet is good value and excellent. Front desk staff speak English. Hotel is near Lake Hamana and is quite far from central Hamamatsu. Not many restaurants or cafes within walking distance. Car or taxi is required for exploring the area."

Dormy Inn Express Kakegawa Natural Hot Spring

8/10 Good

"This was my 2nd time stay at this hotel. They changed the system to check-in/out to kiosk. But some staff helped me to resolve my issue. I like there’s natural hot springs and breakfast buffet with some local foods. It’s about 10 minutes walk from the station and the castle. It’s not luxurious hotel but convenient."

EN HOTEL Hamamatsu

8/10 Good

"Overall the stay was great. I just wish there were more power outlets in the room. The one by the door was too loose and couldn't be used properly. There was one power strip on the wall but that was it The one thing we didn't like was the smoking room in one corner of the main lobby. Even though it has a door isolating it, the smell of cigarette was still strong around the lobby and reception area."
