Fare atihau vairao

Fare atihau vairao

10/10 Excellent
"We very much enjoyed our stay at Fare Arihau Vairoo. The room was lovely and comfortable. Our hosts were so friendly and welcoming and took care of us as though we were family. We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. All the food was prepared by our host from local ingredients mostly grown in their own garden. All the food was exceptional and the service, some from our hosts little girls, was delightful."

Sublime Tahiti Beach Retreat

Sublime Tahiti Beach Retreat

10/10 Excellent
"Everything was perfect. View was great, everyone was friendly and helpful, it was secluded and peaceful. Hot water is solar powered so if cloudy could get a little lukewarm but that is not a big deal. Highly recommended."

Toahere Beach House - Beachfront - Pool - Pontoon

10/10 Excellent
"Ingrid and Haimeni were amazing hosts. They guided us to the best activities, food and adventures. Our family used the pool, kayaks, dock. The property is very new, clean and all new modern appliances etc. The kitchen is very complete. Upon arrival there was a basket for us of amazing local fruit and there were flowers placed everywhere for us. It felt very special. In the morning you see the most amazing sunrises coming over Tahiti Iti. Zero mosquitos when we were here mid-June. Safe parking is on the grounds. The 1 km road to the house is a dirt road - we had a bottom of the line rental car (Renault Kwik) and had no problems. Restaurants, markets, grocery stores, snorkeling, surfing are all less than 15 minutes away. We did a 4x4 tour across the island and saw so much more as a result. In my mind, the location is perfect for exploring the full island. Ingrid and Haimeni were very attentive to any questions we had."

Villa Mitirapa

Villa Mitirapa

8/10 Good
"Overall a nice place to stay with a few caveats. Easy check-in with the keys on the counter and quick response by email. We stayed in Aura where two rooms have AC and one does not - was not a problem for our stay. The third room has a fan. The rooms have plenty of open shelf space for clothes. The deck overlooking the lagoon and private pool were favorites. There was a nice breeze during our stay. Bring bug spray though (as with most places on island). It would have been nice to have hand towels and wash clothes, not just bath and beach towels. Also, some hooks in the bedroom to hang up towels or clothes. The shower has body wash and shampoo; some shelves for personal washing supplies would be helpful. There was a lot of roof noise one particular night from what we think were birds collecting seeds from the tree overhead. Our neighbors didn't have the same foilage so this may be specific to our Villa. It bothered some of us more than others, so if you are a light sleeper, the islands of Tahiti in general can be noisy with dogs, roosters and other wildlife. The WiFi worked well but we had to request the password. This proved difficulty since we had spotty personal service. There were chocolates left for us at check-in which was a nice welcome. Thank you for sharing your Villa with us."

"This place is magical. Beautifully landscaped, the decor and layout is inviting and original. The owner, Martine, was incredibly helpful with any needs we had, full of tips on what to do and proud to share her knowledge of the place. It is a tranquil oasis, interrupted only by the clucking of roaming chickens and roosters. Perfect for a relaxing get away in paradise."

Teahupoo: beachfront, the lagoon and the wave, at the foot of the mountains !

10/10 Excellent
"The property was even more beautiful than the photos! We loved listening to the waves as we were going to sleep and opening our eyes to the ocean that's a very short distance away. What a treat! The way the house was built, kept it cool during the day so the temperatures were very comfortable during our entire stay. The spacious porch facing the lagoon provided beautiful views and plenty of outdoor dining. The house was well stocked with spices, coffee and oil, which was very helpful. The hosts were great. They are the most gracious and accommodating owners we've encountered on VRBO. The coconut they prepared and provided was much appreciated as well as the delicious honey from their own bee hives. They provided a lot of helpful information about the surrounding area for hiking, biking and water sports. We were guided on a beautiful hike that we took directly from the house. We saw two waterfalls, several swimming holes, eels, fish and more! We can't put into words the beauty of these mountains. We also kayaked in the tandem daily and enjoyed viewing the corals and many brightly colored fish. We highly recommend this rental property and can't wait to return!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Tautira?
The best area to stay in Tautira is along the coastal road on the northern side of the peninsula, particularly near the main village centre. This area offers convenient access to the Tautira village, where you'll find local shops for essentials and a few small eateries. The landscape here is characterised by lush greenery meeting the clear blue waters, with views of the surrounding mountains. It's a quieter part of Tahiti, great for those seeking a tranquil retreat away from the busier tourist hubs.Couples looking for a romantic and secluded escape will find this area particularly appealing. The focus here is on natural beauty and privacy, with opportunities for gentle walks along the coastline or simply enjoying the peaceful environment. Many accommodations offer direct access to the sea, allowing for swimming or kayaking in a calm setting. For travellers interested in local experiences and exploring the natural environment, staying near the village provides a good base. You're close to the starting points for hikes into the lush interior or boat trips to explore the coastline and nearby lagoons.
When is the best time to go to Tautira?
The best time to go to Tautira is during the dry season, which runs from May to October.During these months, you'll experience consistently sunny weather with lower humidity and pleasant temperatures, typically ranging from 25°C to 28°C. This period is ideal for enjoying the outdoors, whether you're relaxing on the beach, exploring the lush interior, or taking part in water activities. The calmer seas also make boat excursions and snorkelling more enjoyable. The shoulder months of May and October offer a good balance of excellent weather and fewer crowds, making them a great option for couples or those seeking a more tranquil escape. You'll still benefit from the dry conditions but might find slightly better value on accommodation and activities compared to the peak months of July and August. While the wet season (November to April) brings higher humidity and more frequent, though often brief, tropical showers, it also means the landscape is at its most verdant. Some travellers might find this appealing, especially if they prioritise lush scenery over constant sunshine.
