The family room was lovely, with beautiful gardens, hot showers, and very comfortable beds. Breakfast on the sun terrace was delicious and set us up perfectly for the day. "Having stayed at the RIU a few times we thought we'd try something different to end our week away. We booked this last minute purely based on price and the picture but what a hidden gem. Was a bit nervous arriving, first time the taxi had ever been there, down a dirt road and greeted with a solid door and buzzer but you're in for a lovely surprise. Greeted immediately by staff, inside the walls there's a 5* safe haven, quiet, sereen, private and peaceful. The room (we stayed in 09 with a second bedroom attached) was better than the pictures, everything styled perfectly. The architecture is just unbelievable, built from mud/clay and straw, about as authentic as you can image, inside it's plastered, air conditioned. 2 swimming pools and plenty of double sun beds, staff delivering drinks and food as you need. Prices are fine, £4.50 for a glass of wine. The evening meal was truly excellent, lamb shank (£17), chicken tagine, mixed Moroccan starters. Breakfast just as delicious. Honestly one of the best meals we've had. If you want a few nights of peace and tranquillity with a spa like vibe, this is for. We'll be back :)"

"Room was great, couldn’t complain. Understanding it is currently a heatwave AC will struggle and only place to cool down was lobby. Would have been great if pool times were extended due to heat. Activities - didn’t really see anything apart from water volleyball nor was I once approached and asked if I’d like to join. Been told that due the heat, only water sports and stretching is happening. Staff were excellent through out the stay! On to the hotel food - breakfast, lunch, snacks were fine as expected, evening meal - only had it on 3 nights. Main restaurant was excellent, really enjoyed it. Booked Italian and Moroccan and was under impression if you book it is Al acarte, I was wrong, buffet. Moroccan “restaurant”/buffet meal was lovely, where’s Italian was a disappointment, had to go to main restaurant afterwards. Overall it was good place to stay, but I confirmed once again that all inclusive is not for me, maybe if it were not as hot and activities were actually happening, I might of enjoyed it more, just could not sleep by the pool for 10h a day."

"We all loved it! Great selection of slides, pools. It says they have 4 restaurants but really it was one restaurant that had buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner, one restaurant that opens from 3 pm to 5 pm for crepes and hamburgers and one cafe with pastries and sandwiches. In general the slides could use some repainting. Staff can do better with cleaning up the common area around the main pool/main cafe since that’s where most guests hang out. Our room was big enough for 5 people. But honestly we were overall very pleased with the resort."

"Best stay we have had so far on all our visits to Marrakesh over the years. The complex is surrounded by the most beautiful well kept lush gardens which added to the whole relaxed feel of the hotel. Of course it’s remote, but most are, however I feel that’s better so you can dip in and out of the busy sights and Medinas if you want and free shuttle anyway or cheap taxis all day. I had decided not to return to Morocco a couple of years ago but Barcelo has completely changed our minds and will 100% return. Staff amazing, and not in your face in restaurants or mither, like some other hotels. Room adequate size and spotless. Choice of quiet pool and slightly busier one with more than enough beds all day. Thank you and see you next year."

"1000/10 This property was a complete oasis the most peaceful place I’ve ever stayed. Even though Marrakesh is very hot because of all the greenery it was a very nice temperature inside and outside. The rooms were extremely clean if you are barefoot your feet are going to be clean the whole time and it smells very good. The blanket smell freshly clean and they had white sheets. The breakfast was a traditional Moroccan breakfast with all the traditional foods. We will always come back to this place when staying in Marrakesh."
